  1. Well that shimmy for just the first few hundred miles makes sense in my case. It was a new tire at the time I noticed it. Never thought tread depth would have been the cause of it. Well ya learn something new once in a while.
  2. Since we are talking about Avons.... I just installed a 46 on the rear, I really like it instead of the MZ4 I had on there. But I feel a weird side to side motion when pulling away from a stop sign, or at very low speeds. It is like I can feel that tread pattern. Over 5 mph all I feel is a great tire. It sticks good. Has anyone else noticed this feeling at slow speeds? I did check and I don't have any side to side play in the rear bearings. My front MZ4 is almost gone though. I've felt it in the rear of my VFR. Only noticed it one day after a ride in the mountains. Never felt it again. Maybe I was just more in touch with the feel of the bike that day.
  3. Has anyone noticed the read end slide around during heavy cross winds with the Avons? I didn't notice this much at all with my Pilot Roads but the Avon 46ST moves around a bit too much for my liking. Other than that gripe I love the tires. Pilot Roads and these Avons are top notch in my book for stick and wear.
  4. Just put AV45/46ST's on my VFR today. The goo gone stuff sounds good so I went to their web site to see if they had any issues with using it on rubber. According to their FAQ: 10. On what may I not use Goo Gone? Non-washable fabrics, such as silks and satins, and natural materials, such as leather, suede, and rubber. It's not for photos, as it could damage the emulsion on the paper and be absorbed by the paper, leaving a yellow tint. Use StickerLifter for photos; it's acid-free, too. Their site is at http://www.magicamerican.com/faq.shtml
  5. My rear Pilot Road was 0.255 when new. After 2242 miles it is down to 0.157. I estimate about 5k at the wear bars. The front looks good for about 10k.
  6. I've got that line on my Roads too. I'm pretty sure I saw it on my last one too. Must be something in the mold?
  7. A friend of mine with a VFR had a D220 on the front and the original D204? on the rear. When it came time for a rear the dealer didn't have a D220 but told him to go ahead and get a D208. Said it didn't matter how you mixed and matched tires. I disagree because you don't want the front to have a harder tire and be sliding before the rear do you? Sometimes ya gotta wonder how smart these dealers really are.
  8. I've got Roads on my VFR800 and have 3500+ miles on them. Hoping to see 6000 miles before replacing rear. No cupping on the front at all and grip has been great so far.
