  1. I think I'm going to end up taking pictures. Unless you have taken one apart it is very difficult to explain the CCT interals.
  2. Joe do you know what part is actually rattling?? Is it the tensioner guide or the chain on one of the sprockets? You can actually tighten the load spring in 1/2 turn increments. I think I'm going to install the old honda recomended fix and add a 1/2 turn. Again I apologise for not telling you in a pm, really it didn't even cross my mind that you would want to know. The nagging fact is that if I put a new Honda CCT in there it will be fine for 2k,......... that spring has got to be losing tension. I dont think the chain or the gears are wearing that fast. I'll keep you updated on the status if you like.
  3. Joe I have no complaints of you or the product I paid for. It was definately better than the stock unit that I replaced twice. I have this obscure affliction of always being the exception to the rule. Maybe I'm too anal? Whats the deal with the manual CCT?? How frequently does it need to be set?
  4. Got one from Joe last year, starting to rattle after 7000 miles right at 6000rpm.
  5. Thinking adding 1 extra turn increments until the rattle stops. Gotta be a way instead of buying 40$ part every 3k.
  6. Everyone is missing the boat here. The foot end at the base has a circlip. Remove circlip, lift 4 tang washer out of seat, spring unwinds, How many turns. It is simple.
  7. The # of turns is determined by the thread pitch. Foce on the foot is determined by spring preload. How many turs is the preload??
  8. The screw in the end is preloaded from the spring inside. If you remove the circlip and let the flange out of its keys it unwinds rapidly. It has got to be close to 10-15 preload turns but I don't know exactly. Thats what I'm tring to find out.
  9. Does anyone know how many turns the stock CCT spring is wound at from the factory?? I tore one of the three I had changed from that aggravating rattling noise apart. Pretty simple device yet well made. Seems the chain tension is a function of the amount of turns that the spring is wound. Wondering if I tighten one extra turn does it return to the factory preload. :?:

    Yahoo!!

I was wishing the the CCT I installed 2400 miles ago would go bad!! This was the dealers OEM upgraded replacement too  . Has anyone modified the CCT with a slightly stronger spring  ?? How about a different model? Is this going to be a 40$ 2000 mile maintainance cost? :???:

    Head Shake

I would be curious to know if a brand new bird showed this. Or is it just because we all have so many miles on em? :-o

    Head Shake

#1 Back pack worn by me, none other attached. #2 1/2 worn Pilot Sport #3 Wide open road. The thing that bugs me is at 30-40mph no prob. why only @ 65?

    Head Shake

Has anyone expericenced steering head shake on the bird?? 65 mph on I90 set the throttle lock, went for a small strech leaving the bars unattended for 5 sec and  WTF  . Bitch started shaking like 100 hooker from canada. Neck bearings?? Any logical deductions?(other than the obvious, letting go of the bars.)
  14. Just curious to see if anyone has seen an advantage. I think I'm going to go with a new sport in the front just form the mental aspect.
  15. Does anyone run different model tires? I got a Pilot Road on the back (new) with a Pilot sport on the front(worn). I'm wondering if there is any advantages to a grippier tire on the front. :?:
