Got a DID Quadra and a Motion Pro chain breaker. Install went slick. Nice and quiet chain now. Ready for another 28+k miles!
  2. Pull 1 brake pad out and bleed, that helped me.
  3. Does any one have the bearing # for tapered steering head bearings? Would like to not buy 'all balls' bearings, and tried Jaws, but total cost was $76! Would like to put some quality bearings in there, but need to avoid breaking the bank to do it. Thanks,
  4. It'll be a little bit yet, doing the forks now Might put in that CB900 mill sitting on the shelf as well...
  5. Got the bushings back after two three tries @ the critical chainside swingarm bushing. My great idea about using Honda top shock bushings failed, went with delrin inserts. Bolted it all up and it looks gooood. Now to get a tire and take her for a ride! I have a CB400SF chainguard too More photos at https://plus.google....644367370603601

After 28k miles, the DID standard O-Ring chain has stretched. What's the current best value chain and vendor to order from? Guess I need to get a rivet tool as well. Thanks
  7. Resprung the front forks - eliminated the diving under braking and wallowing during transitions
  8. My '97 went tits up @ ~ 24k, killed the battery through overcharging. Roadstercycle replacement still working @ 34k
  9. Got the bushings back from the machinist, and did a test fitment. Axle/wheel end is good. One bushing on the swingarm pivot is too thick and is riding on the end of the swingarm instead of the inner bearing race. Am taking them back for a tweak next week.
  10. IDK how I found my wrench, but Yelp gives him high marks. Try there?
  11. Yeah, it was about $300 more than I thought it would be. It's the last time I go the full boat tune @ the shop, even though the guy is a good wrench.
  12. Hate to ask but what was the cost?? Labor was $500, parts total another $225 Would have been less if I bought my own spark plugs. Also the valve cover gasket was shot, almost $70 for that alone.
  13. Sent the bird in for a full tune up and valve adjust @ 31k miles. Valves (no adjust needed), plugs, timing, carb remove and clean, new fuel filters, petcock diaphragm leaking vacuum and replaced. That's all. Did not realize how much it had fallen off until riding it. Lordy mama, she's so smooth and fast now, it's a real effort to keep her below 90. This bike is the tits again. Money well spent.
  14. Finally got my machinist working on the spacers. Also, Honda sells the top shock bushings from the original Honda shocks for only $3 and change each. So I hope to not need to machine up some bushings for that. Should pick up the bushings on 8/3. Amazingly, Honda still sells the upper shock bushings so I can pop them into the ZRX shocks to solve the problem of them having the wrong ID for the frame pins.
  15. I have a pair here that I think came out of my stock forks. They measure 9 1/8". But someone should confirm. Long spacers on them forks.
  16. Yes there is a collar sticking out of the radiator top mount on my bike as well, and a long bolt that goes through it. Don't ask me why.
  17. I bought them straight from Samco for my 97, i got the urban camo. Ha. What was that, grey digicam?
  18. Thanks guys, I'll perform a fondling and decide what to do.
  19. After cracking 30k miles, and owing a 97 Bird with a past of abuse, I thought it would be good preventative maintenance to replace the rad hoses. Was thinking of grabbing a set of SAMCO hoses off ebay, but if anyone has a better source, please let me know. Thanks.
  20. Found custom brake disks here: http://www.bikehps.com/isr/isr_brake_discs.html Price is not too bad. looks like this will be one of the finishing touches for the project.
  21. Got the laser set, and made some adjustments. Looks aligned. Got the F2 rear wheel seals, check bushing sizes, and finalized the blueprints for the machinist. The rear brake tab has about 50% engagement, and the disk could stand to be about 1/2" larger. Anyone know what other disks fit the F2 rear hub? 22. Well, still waiting for parts, but in the meantime, found a nice CAD program at www.sketchup.com to draw the spacers. The dimensions in the below are ALL WRONG, this was just a test.
  23. Sure looks like it! I've got a CBX owner following my CB750 swingarm upgrade in the CB1100F forum. Itanium, is that you? Yes, that is a CBX. It is currently non-running. I am on 1100F.net. I don't think I posted in that thread though. The head bearing came in Wednesday afternoon. I haven't started that install yet. Please let us know what you got and how it works out. Getting some slight movement under HARD braking, so my bike's up for that next. A CBX - you dog you.
