  1. Rock Me Up.... Slight correction !! "its the device used to balance with the throttle to keep the front end up at the right angle." Should read "correct angle." Somebody might try to turn right..
  2. Spicholy.......... do yuh think he bought it??? My 02 runs between 174 and 190 until I am in traffic that is rolling below 30 mph (little airflow thru rad) and then it climbs up to 210 and above. My fan kicks on at 216. I found that if I have to sit thru a long light, I can either shut the bike off or run the revs up above 2000 and the increased water flow and the fan being on will drop the temp back down from 225 to about 205. I love digital gauges. No guessing.
  3. Check the battery voltage, esp. at low engine speed. Not enough voltage will start all kinds of problems and the light throttle openings and very low engine load will stand out quickly.
  4. What is this Oil Change Ritual that you spoke of???
  5. I guess with my old age I have found a better way.........Son, I'll fix the burgers, beans and fries if you will change the tire.
  6. TFT, This is the result of mine getting knocked over at a vintage bike meet while parked. Easy fix...if your kid does bodywork and depends on you for sleeping quarters!! DAMAGED AFTER VIFFER 1st DAY 3 WEEKS LATER R6
  7. Throw some satin clear on it!! Helps make it easier to keep clean. As an old flathead Ford friend stated " It ain't a true hot rod until ya clear the primer"
  8. What is this "CHAIN LUBE" you are talkin about???
  9. Thought I would pass this on. http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZc5slp
  10. kwikXX.. Turn right at the north end at Meaders store, go 1/4 mile, turn left on SW 183rd Ave Rd and have a blast! Just remember to do a recon session 1st. waytooslow... Just stay off of Forest Road 8 !! It runs north from SR 42 to CR-314A in the Ocala National Forest. It is a somewhat fun road. Most fun at 3 am running Code 3 in an ambulance...the strobes mess with your depth perception and the horns and sirens spook the wildlife!
  11. The EBCs do make a bit of noise compared to stock pads. When I first used them I thought a bunch of grit had gotten in them until I realized that it is normal. Does it sound like somebody is running a lathe when you hit the brakes?? At Deals Gap, a guy on a Harley heard them as I came to a screaming halt next to him due to a bunch of his buddies that were using their HDs as rolling road blocks to keep the sport bikes from passing. .......they failed to realize the acceleration ability of the Bird.
  12. My Pilot Powers have about 4k on them and the rear is starting to get the flat spot in the center from riding upright so much. There are no real curves in Fl to work the whole tread, just straight stuff. I guess a repeat appearence at Deals Gap is in order.
  13. At least you found the problem !! And it was a cheap fix-----it could have been internal, $$$$ or BOTH !!
  14. Use JB WELD like body putty, allow it to dry completely, sand to desired look, prime and paint.
  15. Speed Demon.... The digitals failed to make it onto my 1st post and I failed to include the include the remarks onto the 2nd one. The PI with the trailer is my brother's $500 wonder with the leaky intake manifold. And that is a bulldozer undercarriage on the trailer-- 1951 Oliver OC 3. My brother really would like to put that plate on his car. He followed a co-worker in to the job early one morning and when the guy pulled into his parking slot, my brother hit him with the spot light. He thought he was going to jail. My brother told him that the next time he wants to run 85 to 90 on the Interstate, he better be sure of who is around him. Sorry if there was any confusion.
  16. I see that the picture failed to show up on my original post. Here is my brother's $500 P71.
  17. I clean the chain with kerosene in an old mustard squeeze bottle and let it dry. I then start the bike, drop it into 1st and while it is idleing, I dribble 75W90 rear end lube onto both sides of the chain and some down the center. After letting it sit for 10 minutes, I start it back up and coat it with Chain Wax. After another 10 minutes, I go for a ride. My CBX still has the original chain on it and it is still in the green zone. Of course, the Bird is right at that magic 22k mile point and I am noticing the chain is showing it's age.
  18. Here's the plate that should go with it. My brother has a 01 that he bought for $ 500 from a co-worker that had it for 2 years until it started loosing coolant. A another intake manifold solved that. My brother keeps wanting to steal the engine and tranny from my Mustang. I still prefer that 81 9C1 Malibu that I had. A slightly warmed up 350 really woke it up.
  19. 02's look so much better in black! At least that is my opinion. And that is a beautiful 02.
  20. If you are just looking for any scrap skin, stop by any dealership and tell them that your son is teaching you how to do fairing repair and you are looking for some practice material. They might just surprise you.
  21. I will take them off your hands. PM my ugly butt.
  22. So this whole episode was just a good and roundabout way to justify a new line for the NOS?? Good job!!
  23. I am betting that there is an internal fail-safe temp setting that will kill the motor before it reaches critical mass. I have seen 240 in a traffic jam were I had to run at idle speed in 1st gear for a mile. Of course, there was a 5mph breeze from behind.
  24. Speedy........ Melt it down for scrap. Then you will be done.
