  6. Set up the bike with the front wheel off the ground and firmly locked to the steering stop. Use a dial indicator to check for runout. I have heard brake pad deposits on the rotors can also cause pulsing.

  12. I just removed all the brake light hardware entirely. Big weight savings. Since I don't stop for red lights or stop signs no need to worry about being rear ended. It don't cost nothin. You're welcome.
  13. I would pull the freeze plugs and use wire brushes and steel wool to clean the inside of the block. You don't want to rust a hole into the cylinders. Add a couple bottles of navel jelly to the cooling system and let it run for a few hours. That bitch will be sweet as a virgin's honey pot.
  14. Before taking anything apart pressure test the system. It leaking or its not. Running for a half hour should be plenty even in the cold. Sender to the gauge has always been a common failure I have seen. Gauges rarely fail. Fords have shunt gauges which are idiot lights with a spiffy needle that often is not calibrated. Warm the engine and check its temp with a infrared temp gun. A gallon low on coolant means you were cooking the motor.
  15. Adding kitty litter should also sop up water. That stuff work great and I think if the granuals are small enough the pump impellor should circulate them just fine. Skim em out with some fine mesh screen.

My buddy got an awesome autographed VMAX poster from him,..... And I was too busy to get on too. Kool guy and a kool piece of 80's cycle history. You promoted a performance bike back then you hired him to wring it out in the quarter mile.
  17. Try 5w-30 on your next run to the dump and report the results.
  18. I read an interesting thread on BITOG about using oil instead of coolant. Nearly total corrosion control. It wont boil over in any foreseeable set of circumstances, and if you change it periodically you can use the drain oil as chain lube. Repurposing it saves you money, and further reduces global warming. I will never go back to Prestone ever again.
