    cleaning

I am on my 2nd rear at 7k miles.. front tire is slightly cupping so going to replace that also. I took 4 trips to the mountains (400-500 miles a trip) and that killed them.. had plenty of tread till I went too play..
  4. Buddy of mine at the local stealer has some bike manuals on sale.. They have one for the bird, buts its a 99' Will this manual be good for 02' I know the clusters on the bikes are different, but is there anything else thats different between the years? They only want $20 for the book, so If I can't use it maybe someone on here might.

    cleaning

I got me rear tire off, and did some cleaning, I used honda polish and cleaner, and also alittle rubbing alcohol on the tougher stubborn grime, I am waiting on a buddy to get me a deal on the ghost hugger to install. So hopefully this will be the last time I have to do this.
  6. I also like 44K, been using it for about 4 yrs. This stuff makes STP and all the others seem like water in a bottle. We use to use it at the shop I worked at. They bought it by the case, so i borrowed a bottle whenever I needed one
  7. I had a problem with my Ranger similar to yours. The system is a 4wheel drive on the fly system, with a little selection knob. I had excess rust built up where my axle goes into my hub. I have been into the mud my fair share  and alittle bit of dirt and rust stopped it from engaging. Also check to make sure you don't have a crack in your vaccum line or its pinched off somewhere. Buddy had that problem on his Jeep once... 3 hours stuck off of Nags Head on the beach wasn't too much fun. (running low on beer) I have worked on older model Bronco's but not the newer OJ Simpson syle  Also check your fueses never know. Look in your owners manual to determine what fues it is..
  8. I don't think they make them for the XX, but I am sure you can make alittle custom modifications and have it. Dave
  9. Yes, I got the dual slip-ons aluminum, and they are awsome... and make for a nice rumble, but dont make you scream like a damn banshee either.. I wouldn't trade these pipes for anything.. love the looks and the sound is truely what I truly was looking for. I ordered mine early this year. 8 weeks to get... no biggy was still cold outside. Buddy ordered some for his bird and had them in 2 weeks. So I guess it all depends on if they have them made up ready to ship from Italy, or not. Drop me a PM if your interested in them... Plus I got mine at a super deal so the wait was well worth it. Dave
  10. didn't come with a relay.. just the horn, and hardware to mount it up.. them magnum horns look sweet... damn now will have to find them if they are that much better... Dave
  11. dont have anyway to get a sound byte of it, but its 132db horn Part number F 72112 Sounds just like a car or truck horn, but since its right in front of the bike and in the open should be nice and loud to other drivers. Dave
  12. I finally got it done on my bike. I strongly recommend everyone on a bird to do it. Will take you 5 minutes to do. And will give you more horn sound than that little ass beep beep Roadrunner stock horn. Only tools you need is a 12mm socket and rachet, and 10mm wrench for the new horn bracket. Pop off the wires from the stocker, remove 12mm bolt. The horn comes off, that simple. Use the supplied bracket and 10mm nut on the Blaster horn, and put it back where old horn was. The stock female wire ends slide right onto the new horn and there you go.. Costs like $12 from Advance, and simple and quick to install. Dave
  13. You can pick up them horns for about $13 at Advance or Napa Dave
  14. Hey don't worry... I took my bike up too a dyno open house day at a bike shop last yr. the dyno was pulled behind some dudes truck. So it wasn't the best in the world. It was about 98 deg. outside and so humid my balls were stuck to my leg for the day.. He had no air to go into the bike either... I pulled 130 hp and hit 151 mph in forth gear, Completely Stock. I got my ass handed to me by a busa and R1. both with full systems and PC's Take your bike to a shop with a good dyno (air blowing into your intakes) Temp outside around 65 to 70 deg. and with as little humidiaty as possible. Dave
  15. I normally get about 160 to 220 depending on if I am in the mountains trying to carve roads, or around home cruising along.. once past 100 your fuel is sucked away.. I was chasing a buddie of mine once. He also has a bird. I dropped a few bars within 10 miles and was happy to see a gas station when she started blinking at me. At the rate I was going I would have been out of fuel in 5 miles probably  Dave
  16. Yeah they also pay $20k for a bike that leaks oil, has 1930's technology, Dave
  17. Yeah I try to keep her full, not only is better to help keep moisture out, but it also sucks monkey balls when you gear up ready to go burn up some back roads and you have hit the gas station first thing. I sometimes don't get home till late from a day of riding and alot of places aren't open or I am too tired to stop after 400-500 miles of riding. Plus having my bike parked downstairs in my basement it stays about 70 and on a hot day when I roll her out, she instantly fogs up from temp change. What brands of FI injector cleaner do you guys put in your bikes? I normally use Lucas, like $4 a bottle but buy a couple bottles when they go on sale to $2 every now and then. Dave
  18. Thank you thats all I was looking for  Dave
  19. Ok let me see, Cam 2 is racing fuel with a octane of 108 I don't plan on running it full stregnth in my bike I am not that dumb yet. Just a gallon if that. I also know about all the crap about running higher octanes and why they don't work like people think. I don't care what octane or brand of gas people run in their bikes. I am simply asking if anyone has or heard of someone who ran a gallon of it in their bikes to help eliminate moisture in their tank, or help clean any carbon. Similar to running FI cleaner in their bikes. I also can get a gallon of Cam 2 for $4.50 a gallon which is about the same price as any quality FI system cleaner I can buy at Wal-Mart Advance, Napa, ect. ect.
  20. Ok I asked this on another board, and really didn't get the answer I was looking for so will ask here. Couple guys I ride with 929, and a 996. They both will run a gallon of Cam 2 in a tank every so often. They told me it will help eleminate some moisture that could form in your tank from condensation, and also help clean up your pistons, valves, blah blah blah I just wanna know if it will help or not, The gas and Cam 2 will only be in the tank for a few hours. So anyone? Dave
  21. Well right now I am staying around the 185 to 190 depends on if I am on a road with tree coverage or not.. Will post temps once flushed and running again. Dave
  22. I was going to drain my system (flush with distilled water) and fill back up with engine ice. Has anyone done this? How much cooler does the bike run? Also I haven't looked yet, but is there a drain plug on the radiator, or do I have to go searching for something speacial? Any info would be great. Would love to help my baby run cooler. Dave
  23. http://www.tricktape.com/product.asp?0=378&1=384&3=990 I would take them in silver.. Do you talk to Shawn when you call TT, Tell him some asshole in VA says hi He's a really good guy, finally got to meet him at the DC show earlier this yr. I bought this http://www.tricktape.com/product.asp?0=203...03&1=232&3=1561 from him Friday. Dave
  24. Thanks for the heads up guys, I will be ordering them this week.. Now just need to find a good shop to throw them on for me... Might have to call my buddy that works at the bike shop.. Dave
  25. I know there are 50,000 threads of tires. But I was just curious of some sites you guys have gotten tires from for a good price. I have seen alot of online sites but was curious who everyone has had great experiance with service price delivery, ect... I don't wanna deal with someone that might accidently send you the wrong tires, and then you gotta play phone tag to get your order straight. I am going to be getting some Avons you guys gave alot of great feedback on these tires. So now i am looking for feedback on where to get them. Thanks for any info.. Dave
