  1. No not a problem, really. I just replace the 50 miles with about 20 minutes of big circles and figure eights at a large parking lot. I just don't want to hit that last bit of mold release when I'm not expecting it, and there's no roads locally worthy of scrubbing in a tire.
  2. I read the same thing, Jerry. I've also heard of using mineral spirits. I don't know that I trust that stuff not to dry out the rubber, so I'm gonna keep doing it the old fashion way at the local multiplex parking lot. Might be interesting to hear from someone who knows more about the properties of rubber and such, as it seems like a good idea if it won't hurt the tires.
  3. This may help- http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forum/viewtopic.p...p?t=700&start=0 Do a search on sparkplugs if need more info it's all out there
  4. Yep. I'm on my second chain at a little over 24k. I replaced the chain and front sprocket (which was slightly hooked) at around 18k. Rear still shows almost no sign of wear.
  5. I've been looking at those new Metzlers as well. I think they're calling 'em "Roadtecs". Any idea when/where they might be available? I've only looked online, and no one is listing them yet. I like the M1s, but don't really care for the MEZ4 out back, which I've been running for my longer trips. So, if I'm gonna stick with Metzler, they're gonna need a better sport touring rear, hopefully this new tire is it.
  6. Get the round ones. I like the M1 Sportecs (thanks mac) for sportier type stuff, but you can't beat Avons as an "all around" good tire. The Avons last about twice as long as the Metzlers, so it depends on what you're doin' with 'em- like Joe said.
  7. Something about Harry brings out the best (worst?) in me. At a certain point I almost feel guilty, it really is too easy to abuse him- then he starts typing again and I can't help myself. Looks like this episide is over, regardless. Stay tuned for the next installment
  8. My '01 has the newer style R/R, so I believe it's the '01 model and up- and no, I can't recall anyone posting about the newer unit failing. I could be wrong, though.
  9. Shit, you kill me, man. What color is the sky in your world? You couldn't manipulate a six week old puppy with a shock collar, an instruction manual and ten pounds of hamburger, but I'm sure you really believe you've got the best of me. Get over yourself and get on with your life. Go away like you keep promising to. Consider it a favor to me, I can no longer take the mind games you keep playing on me, pretending to be a complete idiot whilst playing me like a fine tuned piano the entire time. The inability to spell or punctuate was a fine touch. Nicely played, sir, I bow to your superior intellect  Now will you go away?
  10. I dunno, passing fourth grade maybe? I'm not going to bother continuing to correct all your spelling and grammatical mistakes, just rest assured you're making them, and looking like an ass in the process. Why don't you just go away, instead of hanging out here getting abused?
  11. One would be enough. PS- it's losing, and I think you meant members- moron.
  12. That's the only question I could find in your post, Harry, and we all know the answer- not much. Why do you feel such a strong need to come here and stir the shit every couple weeks? Do you enjoy the abuse? You've alienated (look it up, genius) this entire board at one point or another, and then wonder why we don't gather 'round for a group hug every time you show up slinging more shit. Take your know it all bullshit outdated opinions back the the ZZR board, they seem to tolerate you, in a retarded little brother kinda way.
  13. This, in my opinion, is great customer service. The following is cut and paste from an actual exchange between myself and an Aerostich representitive. Judge for yourself
  14. It'll work fine on your '02. You've got a sealed lead-acid battery, which is what the Tender is made for. A dry cell battery is a totally different animal
  15. 2001, 24,000 miles- no problems. The CCT got replaced with the X-11 item (thanks, Joe), but that was more preventative than anything else.
  16. Sorry, mine's injected. Thanks for the effort, though. Board has been slow the last few days, you may see more response after the holiday weekend is over, a lot of these guys are logging on from work.
  17. You're fucked  . Just kiddin'- Put the "key" back in far enough that that the larger portion doesn't engage the sides, but the center will engage a slot down there in the whole. It's a little tricky, but it can be done. Now, while pushing in on the tensioner, rotate the key counter-clockwise, thus "rewinding" the tensioner. Once it's all the way in, push the larger portion of the key into the cross shaped slot- this will hold it in place until installed  If you've got a small enough screwdriver, you can use it to rewind the tensioner, then stick the key in there.

    Brakes?

Check the front caliper pivot bearing on the lower rear of the left fork tube- it should have been removed and then replaced after the powdercoating. If this wasn't done, that's most likely your problem.
  19. Fucker, recycling my joke.....
  20. Steering stem socket, Honda part # 07916-3710101
  21. Redbird

    Motorcycle ramps

If you walk it up, keeping your feet and most/some of your weight on the two outside ramps, I don't see it being a problem. I wouldn't trust it to ride up motocross bike style, feet on the pegs, without some further reinforcement.
  22. Um, no. Just ask Jerry when he's sitting in puddles this coming February. Hire me? You've never given me a dime for all the times I've serviced you. Don't worry, I'm keeping track.........
  23. This is my last try at this, here goes- Answer- You listen to guys here who've gone with lighter aftermarket wheels and posted their input. If you're looking for formulas to "prove" something, you've come to the wrong place. I could make something up, but there's already enough of that going around. No, it would not, especially if you're specifically talking about dragracing. If you're a roadracer/track guy, and you polished you skills with training and practice unitl you're within let's say 5-10% of the local track record, you may see some benifit to going with less unsprung rotating mass. For us mere mortals it'd be more about the bling-bling than anything else. If you've got $2000 burnin' a hole in your pocket for mods, especially dragracing mods, spend it elsewhere. That'd be my advice to you, and it's all I can offer. PS- you might want to double check some of you math, you've got the back tire doing about 250mph in second gear at one point. I'd buy that rim.......
  24. The attitude is similar, but ask yourself- could you really picture Harry referencing Socratic method? He'd go into fits just trying to spell it..........sOkratek meThEd.........
  25. Thanks for sharing, but this is exactly what I'm talking about. Totally irrelevant, so why post it? Is it an attempt to educate me, or simply you saying "hey, looky here at what I can pull out of my hat..."? Mmmmm....... You did say it, that's all I have to go by. . I would say this says more about your own progress than the shifter. With more practice you probably would've broken 11 without the shifter No. How many dragracers you know that are springing for carbon wheels, anyway? You sound like a guy who's done just enough reading to be dangerous. Are you interested in mods specific to dragracing? Extend the swingarm, lower the bike and strap the front, you'll be amazed how much this might help. If dragracing is specifically what you're looking for info on, there are a couple guys here you can help you, but you'd probably do better to go to a drag specific forum. Caps are widely accepted to be "shouting" on online forums, I'd think a guy who likes going on about Socratic method and the Wright brother's 80% efficient prop might be hip to this little tidbit, and now I suppose you are. Italics are much nicer. I gotta go to work, I'm sure someone more knowledgable than myself will check in from work today and maybe help you out. I can tell you if you're talkng dragracing, the wheels are a waste of money, spend it elsewhere. I think that was your original question, but I'm not sure......
