  1. Has anyone else ever experienced this problem? (2003 XX) I just finished going up and over the Cherahola skyway, stopped in Tellico Plains, TN and was all set to turn around and go back over. Then my tach starts to bounce back and forth between 0 and 8000, my FI light goes on an off, the bike starts to take off, then stop (with no movement of the throttle) like it's trying to buck me off. I pull in the clutch and it dies, I pop the clutch and it starts again. I pull over, and find if I let it sit for a while it starts and can go a couple more miles until it does it again. I get back to Tellico Plains (it early sunday morning in this booming metropolis, how I got back home to MN from there is another story). I take it to the dealer here in MN, it's too cold for a real road test, but they tell me it was due to loose battery cables. (????????) This is the second time this has happened. The first time, it kind of happened in stages, a little buck or hesitation, then fine. I took it in and had a full tune up and they couldn't find anything. Now I'm afraid to take it too far away from home and get stranded again. Any suggestions?

    VFR Bars

    One more try on "Before"

    VFR Bars

Here's a couple pics (before and after). They don't really show the bars very well. But it's the best I've got, and hopefully you get the idea.

    VFR Bars

I put VFR heli's on my bike, and had them on about 2 mo. before I wrecked. (bars did not contribute to accident). Unfortunately, I don't think I tookany pictures. (I'll check) I put +2" Galfer brake and clutch lines on, and had no problem. Loved the setup. Gave me the slight lean forward, but relieved the weight. I had reg XX heli's on prior. I liked them well enough, but just had to try the others. gary
  5. I have a Valentine One with a HARD light inside my helmet. Works great, but it goes through a set of batteries every week or two. I use it all the time, even around town. There are alot of bogey's (doors, alarms, etc) even on full logic so it's on alot. I turn off the HARD when I stop for any length of time (work, the night). Is anyone else having this problem?
  6. Just to satisfy the masses: Yes, I am absolutely, congenitally, obnoxious. I had to be made a gentleman by act of congress (as in officially declared an "Officer and a Gentleman" on my commission). and RocketBoy's excuse would be.......? (psst....here's a hint....) :blowjob: (Never let it be said I condone popcorn waste, what with all those starving kids riding Yamaha's)
  7. Sorry, didn't intend to be so obnoxious. Too many years in the Marines.
  8. Hey RocketBoy, Pssst........little hint......There is a subset of human beings that like to suck my dick....you aren't explicitly listed. Do I automatically assume you are included? :whip: Thanks for the info.

    Sticky Clutch

That was it. Thanks a Butt-Load.
  11. After putting Heli-bars on, I recently cut off the locator tabs on the hydraulic resevoir on the clutch side, and turned the clutch lever down to a more comfortable position. Now the clutch lever seems to stick a bit. Nothing seems kinked. The Hydralic hose is straight. Any ideas from the resident wisdom on this site? Is there any limit to where the banjo bolt can be located relative to the reservoir? If not, why are the locator tabs there in the first place?
  12. Here are some great links to a discussion of oil by Motorcycle Consumer News. It focuses on whether there's a difference with car and motorcycle oil and includes a study by a university guy. Good Stuff. http://www.xs11.com/stories/mcnoil94.htm http://www.yft.org/tex_vfr/tech/oil.htm
