  1. Does it drag all the time, or only when you've been riding ? My XX has never done it (even after EBC HH upgrade), but my VFR800 (Which has the exact same linked brake system) started doing it after about 10 minutes of riding. In my case pulling the caliper off, disassembling, cleaning and reassembling seems to have fixed the problem. If yours is binding even when the bike is cold, then I wonder if your pads just need to bed in a little still ? You might also try bleeding BOTH brake systems on the rear, some trapped air might have the same result. (Don't forget, there are 3 points to bleed from for the rear)

    Shinko's

I don't hammer the bike out of the corners, I don't exactly want $150+ Hp going sideways on me! But I will say that I have M3s on the Blackbird and Ravens on the Busa and when the M3s wear out, I'll be replacing them with Ravens also. Haven't tried the stickier Shinkos, don't really have a need, I really want a sporty touring tire that will last me a good while. I'm sorta thinking the same, as I had the 005 "Advance" on mine and could get the back to slide around under power especially when cold whereas the PR2 rears just stick Quite a few guys over east were using the 003 Stealth's and were quite rapt in them (hence why I tried them) and they were very cheap but after talking to the local tyre guy he seemed to reckon they were very soft and wouldn't last with the riding I was doing :icon_think: The extra wear and they weren't nearly as cheap over here in Perth was why I didn't use them again :icon_wall: The stealth is a soft compound tire used a lot at drag strips, good I'm sure, but on the other end of the spectrum from the Ravens.

My front Raven took a few weights, my rear needed nothing.
  4. My Hayabusa came with Hong Kong fairings and I was happy enough with the quality that I have actually ordered replacement side panels for the busa (mine are fairly scratched) and new side and front fairings for the Blackbird. As far as I'm concerned, the fit is close enough, the finish is not quite OEM, but unless you keep your bike in showroom condition, it's going to get nicks and scratches sooner or later, and with a few of those, all fairings start looking the same. Here are a set of photos that the manufacturer sent me of the fairings that they are making for me. NOTE that I specifically DIDN'T want the logos (otherwise that would have been under the clear coat. Also, the marks that you see next to the right mirror mount are a reflection. XX Fairings These are the busa fairings if you are intrested: Busa Fairings These are the current fairings on the busa: Busa HK fairings
  5. +1 Same here, gunfighter & lady on my XX, Corbin smuggler on the VFR800, both are excellent! My VFR800 came with a Sargent which is not even close to the Corbin in my mind. Just got a Corbin for the Busa too!

Put a set of 009 Ravens on my Hayabusa a few months back. Could not be happier with them, they grip incredibly well (hard to believe that they are sold as a sport-touring tire) If it's any indication, I had to get after-market risers to stop my boots from dragging, that's how confident I am with the Ravens in the twisties. Apparently people are getting close to 10K miles with them. They have an exceptionally high wet weather rating (that I can vouch for). The only thing that takes a little getting used to is that their turn in is a little slower than for example a Metzeler M3, plus the bikes rolls into corners more easily with them. $175 shipped off eBay, they are the ONLY tires I'll be buying going forward!
  7. *EDIT* Ha, ha, maybe I should have tried it first! Not an LED compatible relay, will have to find another one
  8. Just FYI, picked up a similar flasher off a Hong Kong seller on eBay for $1 with 99c S&H. Has the same 31, 49, 49a terminals. Link
  9. Thanks for the measurement, for the record (and I wish somebody would make up a cross reference chart SOMEWHERE), a 44" line is damn near perfect for my XX with VFR800 bars. It would fit standard bars fine too. I got one of these and there are 3 left at the time I post this: Ebay link
  10. That would be fantastic, thanks!
  11. Could somebody tell me what the eye-to-eye length of the OEM clutch line is as well as the line that goes from the rear master cylinder to the brake caliper is ? Much appreciated!
  12. Probably because an almost identical thread was started at the same time: link
  13. And to confirm, you definitely need '02 - '10 / 6th gen VFR800 bars, the '98-01 5th gen will not fit. You are also going to want to get the right switches otherwise the brake lever will catch on the cable guide. Original XX controls: VFR800 controls:
  14. Here's a bump and I'll upload the pic inside that file:
  15. +1 *also* I just bought and fitted Danmoto's rearsets to my Hayabusa, not the very best, but not bad, and worth the money.
  16. Yep, so far I have not heard one good argument that justifies the price difference Between the Avons and the Shinko Ravens. For now I'm sticking with the Ravens!

    POS Honda

The R/R on my '91 VFR went out (part of why I got the bike so cheap) and I replaced it with the R/R from a 2006 CBR600RR, had to use a terminal block to get past the plug incompatibility, but the unit works flawlessly. There really is a lot more compatibility than people think. ... I also have a '99 VFR800, hope it's R/R doesn't go bad soon

    DASH BULBS

Looking at the '98 fiche on service honda, it looks like yours just uses the push in lamps: My VFR800 uses the same so I picked up a few of these, they work great.

    DASH BULBS

Buying the LEDs loose would have been cheaper but I picked up a white set from these guys (I think) It was a little little finiky to install, but not bad, looks 1000x better in white than that dull yellow. ....wish the busa was that easy

    Oops

Ouch, what environment do you ride in to pick up that much crap ?
  21. One here in Austin, TX too: 2000 - 40k miles - $3000
  22. That's news to me. Why turn away perfectly good opportunities at XX bits just because someone is new or not interested in socializing? These guys always seem like scammers to me. I don't have an XX anymore, so they're of no interest to me. If you guys are comfortable spending money with a foreign guy with one post that no one knows, go for it. The auction is covered by eBay "buyer protection" (which saved my ass on a laptop scam recently), so you're not risking that much.
  23. There's another one here in Austin, but at a significantly higher price... [link]
