    engine noise

try riding at faster RPMs... I find 6500 is a nice sound... Is the sound only at that range? Can you pin point the range more specifically? Is it in gear? All gears?
  2. Sorry, I think I missed the question... :???: Were you asking about mods for the ultra long 1000+ mile days, or ???
  3. Heh, yeah that critical failure some time ago happened on my bike... finally got it after a couple month wait, in part cause of the backorder and also in part cause of my lazyness in driving 10 miles out of the way for such a non-critical part... invite me to the mountains, no problem tho  Why not just get a velcro band with adhesive? be cheaper, I'm sure, and more functional too...
  4. Excellent! Thanks to all who posted! Cheers!!!
  5. The inept electrician in me is looking to install (tidy up) some farkles, and I'd like to ask your input on stuff... To be installed: - Relay to - Power distribution block -- driving BMW socket -- driving heated grips -- etc Power Distribution Block - Relay setup. use of a 12v automotive relay with: signal from main fuse block positive input direct from battery ouput direct to distribution block's positive terminal Is going directly from the battery to the power distribution block going to cause any problems or fry anything I attach? Should I take an input line from some other source? I will be using horse-shoe style fuses. Will 10A fuses be appropriate for things like heated grips and widder vests? Many thanks in advance!
  6. I have e-mailed with them, but only after calling them. Sadly, a hard disk crash makes that e-mail chain slightly out of reach... I suggest you fax them. They have only 1 staff guy handling all overseas contracts and customer correspondence. Fax is easier for him, I guess...
  7. Just specify that you want the one with "Super Coat", and you should get it... they have three screen designs for the bird: clear, smoked, and Super Coat (iridium)...
  8. K-Tool, Any news??? Been a while - hope the rep returned after Thanksgiving...
  9. I would imagine you can find it in the US, but there's a product from Respro called Foggy (sounds lame, I know) that is a neoprene mask that velcro-attaches under the chin straps, and forms a seal over the nose... In effect, all the hot air you spew out (breathing, etc.) is channeled to the bottom of the helmet and does not rise to fog the shield. Elimination of the cause, instead of mitigating the cause. It cost me a couple bucks here, but works quite well... It is a bit inconvenient to put on the helmet with it in place, but with a little practice, no problem. Can be folded up and put in a pocket too... http://www.respro.com/racing.php
  10. My riding bitch... Like chains, when they make a certain amount of noise continuously, it's time to get a new one for some peace and quiet!
  11. FYI, the Magnuson Fair Act provides coverage to consumers. Specifically, a portion of it prohibits manufacturers from rejecting claims under warrantee when a third party product has been used, EXCEPT WHEN the manufacturer can directly PROVE that the 3rd party product itself caused the exact defect/failure. This is the reason that you can use third party (name a part) in your car and the dealer can't cease your warranty to force you to use genuine parts, among other things. In other words, Honda must PROVE BEYOND A DOUBT that the pipes caused the problem. Otherwise, use of the pipes is incidental to a different issue. The manager knows this, the rep knows this. So should you. Just a thought to brighten your Thanksgiving...
  12. Aww, does that mean you will NOT go out to your garage and weigh one of the three rotors you advertised for sale? Can't be that much effort now, can it? If you won't, why not??? http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5700 Nothing about a get even party. Hell, don't know you enough to like or dislike ya, but from post 2 onwards has only been about how great life would be if we just jump on board with ya, hold hands, sing kumbaya and put together a group order for some wheels... And what was the main question? Let's see... Info on wheels? A rhetorical question about whether these are or aren't a specific wheel? Can this be true? (No hidden costs!!!) How real is the weight savings, broken down part by part (ya want P/Ns with that, mistah?) Is this for real? And all this can be yours for just $5.99!!! (oh, wait, that's not a part of this infomercial...) I think some people questioned your approach, some offered comments based on firsthand experience, and although I'm sure you meaning well, some time lurking and posting based on your experience and interest in taking the XX to a track would have been more likely to garner positive feedback than just champing at the bit for a group order for everyone. But what do I know...
  13. Ralfy, I'll bet Joe knows, but ya pretty much dissed him at the beginning  ... I think your XX out in your garage should provide some answers... How bout it? I am certain that any self-respecting importer would be willing to set you up with one set so you can do your research, and then report back, and then if someone buys in, they get the discount and you could get a rebate... Good business sense, me thinks...
  14. Carrozzeria Japan's website lists the wheels, but does not indicate point of manufacture or model applicability to the XX. Regarding costs of production, not too much has changed here recently, at least not enough to drop retail costs by some 30%. In fact, presuming costs of materials are stable, the retail after exchange fluctuation should have risen in price. (Yen used to be 125 to the dolla, now is about 109. Let's say they cost 100,000 yen (arbitrary) so the converted prices would be $800 (using 125/$) and $917 (using 109/$), a change of almost 15% in the opposite direction... FWIW.
  15. Jimakazi, Have you considered the R1 regulator, which apparently can replace the stock one, and is much cheaper... Edited to add: http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=276 It might save you some cash... Cheers,
  16. X11 (Naked blackbird) CCT: 14520-MCC-601 is available at: http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5281
  17. Swamp, just curious... You say you don't use coolant, but advise 20% coolant with WaterWetter... Can you clarify what you are currently using? Summer's basically over here, but am looking at flushing the radiator at the 2-year point...
  18. Stopped by a short bit ago, and looked at the catalog they have - identical to the one on the website... no XX listed either... :???: Hrmmm.... funny, I was sober... Anyone know the actual dimensions and screw configuration???
  19. John, your price definitely beats mine... not much surprise there... I'll swing by tonight after work and confirm the H6 part number.
  20. John, all the fans I saw were 6 and 7 bladed fans... Must be because Japanese air is just inherently different, and requires special fan blades... Anyway, let us know what you find, and hey, if it turns out my price is cheaper, I think I'll start an import/export company...
  21. Well, funny you mention that.. I was in my local store checking things out, and Muzzy does list one (local p/n(model) of H6), buta bit pricey methinks at around $75 to 80 for a piece of aluminum... I don't know what the actual fan blade looks like, so can't say whether it looks like it would move air better or not... :???:
  22. 13. Ride like ya stole it!
