  2. Whew, and i thought i was gonna loose sleep tonite... Now I just checked the fridge and there's no Captain Morgan, now's that a f.....g crisis, off to run an errand, be back later...
  3. I knew only because i just checked my jug and filter on the shelf to make sure i was ready to winterize XX this Sunday  ... Oh yeah, she gets her annual bath and polish too... Yep, bring TV out into garage to watch NFL, bow-wow slushy, winterize bird, life is good (except no MotoGP damnit)...
  4. that's in 5W-40, blue jug...
  5. Oh yeah, works great, .n increments w Low Battery alert...
  6. FYI, the Passport 8500 has a voltage meter that u can select as main display until u flush something. Works good 4 me.
  7. On 6th set of Roads, been smooth as a baby's bottom from start to finish front'n'back w no cupping up front  . If shop reordering front, wait'n'see results, if still problem, then worry about other culprits....
  8. Yep, Tim's version should work very well, stay away from the hippo's that go up to you elbow (or give 'em a haircut). I tried those and NOT safe, once u pull your arm from them, it's a bit of a trick to get 'em back in there (NOT good in emergency sitcom)....
  9. Oh yeah Mike, keep us posted on the V-strom / Warchild scenerio... My cordura wind deflectors won't last forever...
  10. And oh, there was a writeup and pics on the FJR board using BMW hard handguards that's worth a read. No matter how u do it, getting the cold wind off your hands is HUGE, more important the the heated grips, but the combo is warm bliss.
  11. The one advantage the cordura is they will collaspe when turning forks to lock. The clutch / brake levers get really close to fairing, so make sure u can get enuf clearance. Xman has the MSR deflectors which is different style than mine, u could check w him on how he likes 'em. http://www.ugly-bikes.com/MSR_Hand_Deflect...9-msrdflect.htm
  12. I didn't pull on it, i bumped it w my thumb knuckle, u just probably set me up to make me look bad when u were in there w yer long skinny fingers...
  13. And Oh, thank u very mucho much...
  14. Think yer pretty clever doncha? That would explain the filter in there, typical Honda engineering... So can I ass/u/me i have to reach up there and find a nipple w a hole in it to push it back onto?
  15. OK, what the hell is it, where does it go and how important is it? http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/200_0351/hea...580&parent=5570 Was reaching my fat grubby hand up in nose cone adjusting vertical beam a few days after the HID installation and out pops (4) 33113-MAT-611 Pipe, Clip as i pull previously mentioned fat grubby hand out (damn it's tight in there). Thanks in advance. That it all... B out...
  16. The touring lip uses both the fairing and shield. The top fairing / shield bolt and two (2) 3M dot stickies on upper part of shield on both sides. I told told my mommy never more than +5, but in reality i had 'er up to about 140 indicated w no problem a couple times, regularly troll up to 110 indicated, very smooth and no turbelance..
  17. I (and Xman) installed HID (split order) on our low beams recently. Xman did most the critical work (thank u mucho Jeff) and I just stayed out of his way (his hands were smaller and fingers longer (vs. my grubby fat-fingered mitts  )), so everything went pretty smooth. Sorry Hobi, no reach arounds :cum: !!! We did my low as the HID and left my high wired to my Signal Dynamics modulator w oem bulb. The results exceeded my highest expectations by a wide margin. The low HID is really lights up the night (as most u know) and during the day i run both the low HID and high modulated oem bulb. The modulated high (low or high speed) gives great conspicuity during the day. The large tall & wide yellowish high below the smaller wide narrow profile bright white HID really stands out and is actually considerably better when both were modulating w oem bulbs. Yes, it looks a :supergay: , but i don't give a shit since it works and i'm happy as pigs in shit. And just to prove i can fuck up a wet dream, i forgot to disconnect my modulator from the low oem wiring when installing the HID. It worked fine in low light garage until i took a trouble light to trigger the sensor, the HID went out like it blew. Damn i think, i just screwed da pooch. Then realizing my galactic stupidity, i wired the modulator according to original plan i forgot to implement and everything worked perfectly. So for those that don't need the high HID for night riding (i don't) and want a high modulator to complement low HID, i can highly endorse the results. Thanks Tim for validating my theory  ... BTW, Xman has a great video he made up of his Colorado / Utah trip this summer, it's :boobies: and i'm jealous!!!!
  18. Ssssshhhhhh, let 'em learn that the hard way, experience is the best teacher... Oh shit, i learned that back a Kwack MachIII back in '70, how old am i? O never mind...
  19. Hey, watch it, that's mine, i have very sensitive feelings and my mommy always said, o never mind...
  20. Mike, if u r going down to 20, no brainer on long sleeve liner vs. vest, just do it. Anyway, that would be if me. Cripes, there is another thing i have to get by the el presidente or on my xmas list, the Gerbing jacket liner. ************************ If u r riding in that cold of weather and have just heated grips, get those cordura atv hand deflectors. Those in combo w heated grips is utter bliss for cold weather riding for your hands. Getting cold wind off hands is more important that heated grips. Once u get 'em rigged, no hassle riding, just hop on, turn up the heat baby and enjoy. http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/enthusia...ctCategoryCode= You will need to rig up a aluminum bar to prevent them from pushing against clutch / brake levers, but simple to do. Both Xman and myself have done it.
  21. I wear Thermax long sleeve underwear. It's lightweight and comfy, it will easy get u another 20 degrees. They have different weights depending on how toasty u wanna be. It packs down small when not using. I get mine at Cabelas. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/common/s...ermax&noImage=0
  22. That seems very strange. The Touring Lip uses the top bolts of windshield and 2 3M dot velcro pads on each side toward the top of shield on outside edges. Laminar supplies the longer bolts/nuts and a good supply of 3M dot velcro pads. There is some flex in Touring Lip when sticking on the 3M dots on oem shield. I thought 01-03 shields the same shape and height. It would be interesting why Laminar says it won't fit on '01. BTW, it's does a great job.
  23. Tim, I checked www.helusa.com since i've never heard of that brand b4 ( i know, i'm being slow again). Their ss dual line kit which seems to include everything was $98. I heard of Galfer b4. What one is your preference or are both of equal quality? And 2nd, where is the best places to buy? I like a soft rear so will leave oem, but want to sharpen up the front feel (quicker harder initial bite and more power w/o pulling lever so far in). Plus i need to change all my brake / clutch fluid next spring. I've been cut off by the el presidente regarding bird farkles (i promised the Wilbers was the last one in '05, but fell off the wagon and did the HID too w/o asking), so currently not in good standing. But I do want to put one of these brake line kits on my Xmas list w the hope of getting lucky... Plus i have to order Pilot Power Front and Road Rear next spring. POS Hondas, does it ever end? B out...
  24. do a search of 'laminar and touring' and 'lip and touring' ... will get several hits...
  25. Once on wet pavement in panic stop (cager pulled out of side street from my right after waiting several seconds for me to reach the critical point of 'oh shit i'm fucked') when I hit both brakes under adrenlin rush. It didn't lock right away, but did shortly after squeezing/pushing harder as the t-bone looked more imminent. Luckily, i was able to let go of brakes and dart across her stern barely missing curb. Front didn't lock. I was (and still am) amazed how hard u can brake on the XX in wet pavement w LBS. Next bike will have ABS and linking.
