  1. My 2003 BB has VFR bars. Is there enough slack in the stock clutch and brake lines to allow use of a set of GenMar or other bar risers without creating unacceptable friction or tension on the lines? Also, if I went with risers on the VFR bars, would I want risers that fit the BB or the VFR? Pardon my ignorance....
  2. Guys, I am trying to determine what RAM mount set up to use to hold my GPS and iPod. I am a bit flummoxed by the stem mounting possibilities, and so am wondering if you think this would fit on either side of the bars. I have long enough RAM arms to make it work if it did fit in the clutch or brake reservoir bolts. Post edit: Has anyone bought a Blackbird stem mount for a RAM ball from this site, and if so, what was your experience?
  3. I had some of those for my FJR. They were OK, but I ended up finding a used Russell Day Long for it. And I just found a very nice condition Corbin seat for my (new to me) Blackbird. Thanks guys.....
  4. If you have a used one you are wanting to sell for some reason, with or without an exchange for a factory seat, let me know. I am 6'1", 32 inch inseam, 215 lbs. in case it matters for seat dimensions....
  5. Me likey. Does the seat for a '99 fit the '03 model?
  6. I will take them off your hands, so to speak, if they are still for sale.
  7. Kettle bells take a little getting used to, as they say, but they are so worth it. In 20 minutes of activity you get a workout unlike any you have ever had. (No I am not selling anything). It is simplicity itself once you get the hang of it. No impact, working groups of muscles all at once. One 16kg (35.2 lb) bell is all any grown man needs to start off with. Study some videos and have some fun. The two hand swing is the basic exercise, but there are many to pick from. It's kind of hard to explain so if you are at all interested, buy the 16kg bell and wade into it. You won't be sorry. Check it out
  8. I don't know the particulars of your situation, but I would highly recommend that you look into buying a 36 lb kettle bell and learning how to use it. I would put kettle bell fitness training up against anything. The line between cardio and resistance training is erased in kettle bell training. There are tons of resources on the web (videos, workout routines etc.) about using this unconventional exercise regimen.
  9. For future use I am buying a replacement CCT and gasket for my (new to me) 2003 BB. Cheap Cycle Parts lists here the CCT part number as 14520-MAT-E22. The pinned thread here lists a slightly different part number for the same CCT. Doubtless, I am missing some subtlety here. Can someone point me in the right direction? EDIT: Is the difference based on the year of the bike involved?
  10. Kind of old....but is the seat still available? Interest here too... I agree, the pic makes it look let's say well used. How many miles are on it?
  11. The wife bought it (we did P90 too) and she started out but didn't make it very far. I've used several of the individual work outs when I wanted to do some cardio to go with my lifting. Its a great system for fat loss and overall fitness. P90X will also pack some muscle on if you keep things in the 8-10 rep zone. Not like heavy weight lifting will, but it does put muscle on if that's your goal. I lifted weights for many years back in the day, but haven't done it much for 10 years now. The Legs and Back routine is just wicked. I've probably done it over 30 times now and it just never gets easier. All the workouts are hard, and none ever get "easy" if you push yourself, but L/B is in a nasty class of its own! I just wish I could change out the soundtracks, I get sick of the same yappie yappie from Tony LOL. I have come to be a big believer in the Russian kettle bell. I have a 36lb, 44lb and 72lb bell. With the lighter bells, I can do one or two hand swings, cleans, pulls and overhead snatches (at least 25 reps per set if two hand, 20 reps per hand if one arm), mix it up with anything I can dream up really, and work all major muscle groups in 20 or 25 minutes. The heavier bell calls for greater discretion because it will f**k you up in a hurry if you're not careful with it. The things provide a fantastic resistance workout which, frankly, eliminates the line between "cardio" and "weights." (false dichotomy for the most part). Kettle bells keep my weight in check, keep my clothes fitting and make me feel "strong like bull" at age 53. Back problems are a thing of the past. They look silly but they work magic. When I get bored with them (not often) I do the barbell complex routines, which are also highly effective. Cheers....
  12. It's a done deal. This bike should be darkening my doorstep sometime in the next 10 to 12 days.
  13. I am up for a set of these in the black material but would want to see a picture as well of what they look like post-installation. I assume they do not interfere with folding the mirrors for bike storage etc.
  14. Is the document available on this site at this link applicable to the '03 Bird? (the cover indicates it applies to the '99 to '02 CBR1100XX but I did not have the impression there was a dime's worth of difference between the '02 and the '03).
  15. I will be waiting with open arms to receive this bike, for sure. Now if I can just scare up a set of used beetle bags.... These seem to be as scarce as hen's teeth, for some reason. I know they may not be as functional as some other hard bags, but damn do they look good on the BB. Cheers...
  16. Thanks to this board, I am in the process of becoming the proud new owner of this bike. Thanks to all involved in facilitating the transaction underway.... :icon_clap:
  17. Send me some pics. I might be interested in taking this off your hands. ndivita@kc.rr.com
  18. Sounds like a fantastic set up Bill. I am just now getting used to the Bluetooth set up with my new Q2 Scala Cardo, but I am still using the ZUMO 450 I bought back in 2007. Sounds like a great configuration. I will bookmark this!
  19. For sale is my 2001 Blackbird. Just bought it in 2008. Not a damn thing wrong with it; in fact, everything is right with it. It is simply a bit too fast for me and is not as versatile as my stalwart 2005 FJR 1300 ABS. In reality, I plan to use the proceeds from selling the Bird to get into a Yamaha Wave Runner or I may sell the Bird and the FJR and get into a new or late model Gold Wing (comfort more than raw speed interests me these days). The bike is in excellent condition. 12,385 miles. Just finished a 3600 mile trip way out west on this thing and oh my, is she fast and smooth. The Blackbird performed superbly on the long ride. I am proud to own it but the fact is I don't need two motorcycles with a bike like the FJR for the kind of riding I do. She is yours for $5500 cash, wire or bank check, take possession and assignment of free and clear title in Kansas City, Missouri. PM me for pictures, details and information regarding extras and accessories that would accompany the bike.
