Thanks. What about an alternator with more output. Are they available or is it possible to modify the existing one?

I have a '97 that I bought in June. Have put a little over 10000 miles on it so far and love the bike. Since the weather has gotten a little colder here in upstate NY I decided to hook a portable heat troller to this bike so I could use my Gerbing gear (jacket liner and gloves). I've noticed the battery has been discharging if I have the gear cranked up. Is the alternator on the '97 on the weak side or do I have a short somewhere. TIA. Skip
