  1. That really looks great, Brett. Now, all you need is an area rug so the dogs can arrange themselves strategically under your feet where you'll be sure to trip and kill yourself when you try to pry yourself out of the couch.
  2. He read this and went to work. His eyes did bug out a little over the gallon o'milk a day part. Hey Mikey, he liked it. He says less PB and more blueberries and ice next time. Thanks!
  3. Ooh, thanks! Right click>Save>retitle "Richard Cranium’s standard shake">Print. Haha. Let me know if you like it. Some people are put off by the cottage cheese. I have no problem with cottage cheese, except that I happen to be out of it at the moment. I guess thats when I was putting pb in them on a regular basis. I generall don't any more. OK I just pulled up my diet tracker from back when I was keeping track and found this: Without the pb and with the oats: 323cal, 30.9g carb, 38.9g protein, 4g fiber, 6g fat, 2.5g sat fat Wow, way too many carbs for me. I'll tone down the oats, use low-fat cottage cheese and definitely no peanut butter. I did pass it along as is to my son who is actively trying to add mass right now. He's built up his muscles a teensy bit lately from starting a gym routine and diet modification, but I haven't yet burst his little bubble that as a High School Senior stick figure, it's really not possible for him to build much mass for close to the next ten years. He can dream. He liked the looks of the shake ingredients.

    My house project

When I saw this: I literally said "Oooh" out loud. It's all looking so great, Todd!
  6. +1 Sounds like you need another glycemic reset. Eat some good carbs for a few days and go back to phase 1 for 7-10 days. That will get you back into ketosis and burning fat again. Then go back into phase 2, eat fewer/better carbs then you did the first time around and exercise more. I would include weight training along with the cardio you are already doing. That's really funny combined with your avatar.

    Laminate Flooring

It's not beige! It's a goldish yellow, dammit! No boring, freaking beige. :icon_mutter: :icon_snooty:

    Laminate Flooring

A scissors lift never occurred to me. For some time, I pondered having to paint those walls and ceiling with a very long pole and it just seemed beyond me. I have physical restrictions which helped rationalize just hiring someone to do it. I did paint my kids' rooms myself years ago, but this time someone else did it all. They used the long pole and a ladder. That ceiling looked like a total bitch to paint. Watching them do it confirmed it was money well-spent. Hey, where's Todd with my "Mmm, yellow"? I could get huffy.

    Laminate Flooring

I have Santos Mahogany engineered hardwood in my house. I tried to find some photos but this is all I could come up with. I'm pretty sure I have more so I'll scout around a bit, or take more shots if you're interested. The floors were installed 2½ years ago in most of the downstairs rooms. I couldn't afford to also do the living room at the time so that was installed the following year. Laminates were considered, but I'd heard they were noisy and with the high ceiling in the entry way and living room, I was afraid of that. Also, I thought lighter to medium laminates looked better, but the darker ones looked too fake for me. I'm sure that's been improved even since I did it. The floors have scratched quite a bit from the dogs' nails, but and I've noticed a bit of a film that's built up, even with using the Bona wood floor cleaner which is the one which is most recommended. That being said, I still love my floors. (Ignore the ugly pink carpet. I hope to replace that when possible, but one project at a time. )

I feel all vicariously involved. Your house is looking so beautiful, Todd.
  11. Oh man, I hate you, Steve. I'm suddenly dying for a donut. A chart. He has to post a chart. I want this one:

    CIVIC HELP

You might want to consider taking this question to the Garage where more people will see it.

    horsepower!

Amazing that a clueless, airheaded female such as myself had no problem finding an affirmative, specific answer with barely any typing. Google is our friend. Honda-claimed, I believe was the actual question.
  14. I have a girlfriend in WA with a mole infiltration. I e-mailed a link to this thread and this is what I got back:

    The Laundry...

Yeah, they're great. The only issue is not being able to throw in one more thing once the cycle has begun. I do that all time so I couldn't get a front loading washer. I hear they're fabulous though.
  16. Thanks Steve! I did go to Conejo Hardwood on La Baya a couple of times to look at stuff. I picked a couplef things just to get an idea and asked for someone to come give me an estimate. They never called to set it up! After a week, I called again and left my name and number once more. Still no call. I guess they aren't hurting for business. There's apparently a Lowe's out in Ventura, though.
  17. Thanks Rick! I'm not sure there's even a Lowe's anywhere near us, but I'll check. I was going to a local small business hardood/stone flooring place. We do have Home Depot. Maybe I'll run out there and look.
  18. Can you believe I started this thread and then forgot to come back and check responses? Good Pam. Any pics you could post here or PM? EVLXX wrote: My kids are old enough not to be an issue, but I do have big dogs with nails. I was actually worried about the noise they would make on laminate floors, not to mention possible scratching. I know they are much louder. Even the youngest kid, at 13, says he can tell the difference between the laminate and hardwood. He votes for wood. :? Should I raid his piggy bank to make up the difference in $$ for wood?
  19. I know laminates are cheaper and extremely easy to clean, but I love the look of hardwood floors. Does anyone really think a laminate floor looks like real hardwood? Anyone have experience with the pros and cons of either or both?

So Demon, how's the garage coming?
  22. You need a bigger bar area! The kitchen is beautiful! Would cedar in a bathroom eventually warp from the moisture? I don't know, I'm just asking. It's too bad you have to scrap the iron tub. The fiberglass ones I have got cracks and seem more difficult to clean. I prefer the iron from a practical standpoint. I have an oversized jacuzzi tub in my bathroom which cracked. Now I'm afraid to use it so it won't leak (again) into the kitchen ceiling below, and I can't afford to replace it. I hear the jacuzzi jets can leak, but I also know there's a crack in the bottom of the tub. I've seen black toilets and sinks. Bronze mirrors = gay? Um, yeah. I'd wonder about a guy whose home I was visiting if I knew he designed that himself. But that's just my opinion. YMMV
  23. Just seeing this post now: What works for me: Back and biceps about every 4th day Chest and triceps about every 4th day. Shoulders thrown in with one of the above days depending on when I have the most time. You're a guy so you'll want to do a lot more shoulders than I bother with. Leg Day- this consists of working everything from glutes to calves. I like to do this twice a week if possible. Abs- two to three times a week Cardio- four times a week - 35 to 40 minutes on the eliptical machine. Changing the machine, or whatever you decide to do for cardiovascular exercise, every 3 weeks is better, I'm just limited because of back issues. It's usually 3 days in a row of working out and one day off, although I may just go in to do cardio and abs. I sometimes won't work out the entire weekend, but ideally I can get in one of the days. Of course, I haven't now worked out for 5 weeks since I discovered a herniated a disc in my back and it's making me very cranky! I'm just waiting to start some rehab. Huh. My friends call those Head-bangers. So, 2equis, how's the exercise going?

It's so weird how Mike (99Birdman) used Snapfish to host his photos that are in his profile, but using the exact same links, he can't get them to show up in PMs. Perhaps the newer firewall on Geckobox has something to do with it. I may ask for one of those Gmail accounts with the free storage and try that. :???:
