  1. I have Pilot Sport in front and Pilot Road in the back and can report that it feels fine. Haven't ridden it enough to report on wear differences though.
  2. Ordered online Street Pilot Road for the rear and Sport for the front. Got 'em in just a few days via UPS. No hassles. Good job by SW Moto Tires for shipping them so quickly.
  3. Thanks Hugo. I will give it a shot and report the results.
  4. I need to order a new rear tire and thought I would get a Michelin Pilot Road for the rear and Michelin Pilot Sport for the front so that they will wear more equally, and I get the advantage of a super sticky front tire. Are there reasons NOT to do this? Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the fog/rain advice guys ... I'll check them out!
  6. Nice. Thanks for the review. My original rear tire is getting bald and I have been looking at the Avons. I also have a 60 mile commute in Oregon from Newberg to Lake Oswego and back in rainy weather these days. I have been also looking at getting a Michelin Pilot Road for the rear and a Pilot Sport for the front. What do you think about that? BTW, what do you do to avoid fog on the inside and rain buildup on the outside of your face shield? In the dark and rain, on curvy mountain roads, that makes for white knuckle riding.
  7. Yeah ... I know, I read too much science fiction. And I wouldn't ever give up the quick visual check, I just don't want to be surprised by what I see there. Eventually, such things will be common.
  8. We need is to know if someone is in, or moving into our blind spots without taking our eyes off the car in front of us, right? Now check out this url: http://www.meaa-mea.com/products/b_millimeterwave.asp OK, wild ass speculation follows ... What if you had something like this pointing backward and then used a little GPS sized screen to display the objects it detects. You could put the screen front and center. BETTER, if you could convert the signals to stereo audio to represent the position of the objects. Just like normal hearing. You could wirelessly pipe the sound to embedded speakers in your helmet using BlueTooth or something. I mean, when I am driving my car, that's how I know when a car moved into my blind spot. I heard it move up into position. With a helmet's wind noise and ambient sound muffling, that doesn't work without electronic help.
  9. Sorry if I'm ignorant, but as Magical Racing specifies only mirrors for the 1997 CBR1100XX model, will that work my 2002 model? A subtle change in shape would make it not work at all.
  10. I just changed my oil to Amsoil 15w50 synthetic motorcycle oil. I bought a case six months ago, and it has taken me that long to get to 4000 miles. The engine sounds smoother. I will monitor the temperature to see if it stays lower, as I heard it would with synthetic oil.
  11. Involute is right. If it runs worse at higher altitude, then the filter is MORE restrictive than stock. Fuel mix is too rich at sea level, and becomes richer as altitude increases and oxygen input decreases. If it ran better as altitude increased, then the problem would have been that the fuel mix was too lean - that the jets weren't allowing enough fuel in to bring the mix to the proper ratio. Right? So as many have said, the fix is to increase the air flow by cleaning the filter. Sounds clogged with dust and/or excessive oil.
