  1. I have a second look and it does not age too gracefully. After 52-53 kmiles. IMO, go with Bagster. Hugo

    rk chains

    My factory RK went really dead at 11k. DID 1 -> 18 K DID 2 -> 22 K The DID is 530ZVM IIRC. Hugo
  3. Fuck, I need to check the garage more often. Nik, don't go calling names on Napoleon please. Hugo
  4. Rodents chew on coolant lines. Not sure it's your case, but an inspection will tell. Hugo
  5. My OEM chain lasted 11k. The replacement never lasted less than 18k. Hugo
  6. BTW, 250 is too much (you are supposed to shut down the engine at that temp.). When it runs hot, mine stops at 230 (02 Cali model). Hugo
  7. BTW, I run 38/40. Hugo
  8. 2kmiles is way too early for trhe flatspot unless you have loooooowwwwww pressure. The hum is not normal. 6500-7000 miles rear 10-13 kmiles front Hugo
  9. 12.5 is not enough. It should be 12.8 with the battery alone. Rev it up and it should go over 14 at around 3-4 krpms. If it does not budge when revving it up -> most likely RR dead Once RR is replaced, make sure you get enough juice with the fan+high beam on otherwise the stator is partially shagged. Hugo PS: I am talking to my dealership right now to get my old - good - battery back. If they find it, you can have it. Good for troubleshooting, at least.
  10. I believe the TSR link addresses that - at a rather high price -. Jeff mentionned that the 929 link looked like its twin brother at a more affordable price. That's about all I know on the subject. Hugo
  11. I paid $126 for mine (full price Honda dealer), so your dealer may have some expalining to do. Hugo
  12. 44kmiles at the time. So the mileage is close. 11.6 Volts -> battery only. If you are still within specs, I would not bother much (I don't think there are that many failures). The problem followed a total 30mn shower at 30mph on my ride back from LA, I would bet some water got in. Hugo
  13. BTW my R/R died after the stator had gone weak and masked the problem. When you test the voltage after repair make sure you do so with the fan kicked in. That said, I am really good at push-starting, now. Hugo
  14. You may want to try Honda US, mine got here in 3 days (02 model). Hugo
  15. I've replaced a BT57 with a 010 after a puncture. I was still running BT 57 in front. The bike tankslapped at 120/130. I recovered, just barely (right before it hit the steering stops). I have not mixed tires ever since, dunno why. Might have to do with my unconditional love for my ass. Hugo PS: I got no warning on the tankslapper.
  16. I don't know how it is around Monterey, but in the valley many shops can get away with that attitude. The average 'hard core summer customer' needs skin graft and fairing replacement well before service. Hugo
  17. Now that makes sense  Hugo
  18. Wheelying sideways? Man that would take some skills (or lack thereof) Hugo
  19. That was it. R/R hosed and stator operating in somewhat degraded mode. I've been putting some miles on the bike and everything is back to normal. Hugo
  20. New stator in, I've taken the bike for a 50 mile ride and the battery is still OK. Will know for sure that it was the stator tonight when I put another 100 miles on it. Hugo
  21. BTW, quick update on my bike. R/R replaced, the problem still occurred. It turns out the stator has gone on partial strike. Stator was ordered, but a different (than ordered) stator showed up. It's getting close to a month with that problem now. I have a very bad case of bike withdrawal, it's not even funny. Hugo
  22. Regardless of whether the gauges are digital or not, there's a fluctuation when the grounding is (un  )screwed. To test that, rev (just a snap of the throttle) the bike to 4k, it'll indicate a 10-20 change in temperature. Hugo
  23. I had the same thing 30kmiles ago (temp gauge looked like an RPM indicator). Hugo
  24. This is getting better (on mine): 1500 rpms handles the low beam/brake lights (at the top of my head). 3500 handles high beam and brake lights. Now why the fuck is it discharging when riding. Hugo
  25. From the HRCA: ----------------------------------- Q: I understand that my dealer can take care of any situation relating to my Honda, but what if I am not happy with the service provided? A: Yes, you are correct. Your dealer has skilled personnel who will be happy to assist you with any concern you may have. Discuss any unresolved issues with a member of the dealership management. Often these issues can be quickly resolved at this level. If your concern has already been reviewed with the Service Manager, then contact the General Manager or the owner of the dealership. We are confident of our dealer's ability to provide you with the highest level of service. If you wish to comment on your experiences with your dealer or your Honda (for USA residents and USA-certified products only), please send your comments to: American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Motorcycle Division, P O Box 2220, MS 100-4W-5B, Torrance, CA 90509-2220. You may also telephone (310) 532-9811. ----------------------------------------- That said there's another number (can't remember). Once the ticket is opened under warranty, it'll be logged under the bike's VIN. Hugo
