  1. So I talked to Helibars, the were not the most friendly in the world. According to them, they are going out of their way to send me a new set of bars ON KENT's DIME (at dealer pricing). I am sending my old bars to him for a little R&D stress testing. I will take pics of the old and new together when I switch them out. Speaking of which, how involved is it to change them? Can I just remove the switchgear and change them one at a time? Anything I need to watch out for? Also, Mods can I change the title to just fooking helibars bent? Dont want to bash the CD at all after the customer service he has given me
  2. yeah, josh that would have been ideal as I was going from Louisville to Sunset Beach NC (Smokies!!!) Unfortunately, the wife would have had to ride in the cage with the kids the entire way, and would have been plotting my death by the end of the trip...
  3. According to Kent at CD, i did not do anything he does not do on his rc51. I spoke to Heli, and they were not as customer friendly. They are calling CD and will call me back
  4. Black, which one do you use? The original or the "bar harness 2"?
  5. so i talked to Kent, the owner of canyon dancer. First off, UBER COOL GUY. He was out of town on a ride with about 120 other bikes, but called me. I explained the situation, and he told me to call heli bars and see if they can send me one side. If not he willl get me both sides on his dime. I told him i was talked into the newer ones, and he was surprised because he sells both for the same exact cost. He told me to take them to cycle gear and if they give me shit let him know and he will send me a set. He hinted around that he has one he will be able to talk about mid july, as it is in the patent process. Let me RECOMMEND THEM VERY HIGHLY!! KENT IS A STAND UP GUY AND UNDERSTANDS CUSTOMER SERVICE
  6. I should clarify. I bought the "new improved" more expensive CD. It has plastic cylinders that go over the bar ends, presumably to keep from messing with peoples grips. The problem with that is it puts all of the pressure on the very end of the bar instead of spreading the force across the entire grip. My throttlemeister bar end probably didn't help because it moved the point taking that force further out. Calling them and raising hell when I get a free minute. Will update with wht they say
  7. Just got back from trailering mine and my fathers bikes to north carolina and back. I unload my bike to discover the right helibar now sits about 1.5 inches lower! I have throttlemeister bar ends, so maybe that contributed. I coudn't have overtightened one side because the bike was upright on the trailer, and I was concerned about over compressing my forks. Can I bend it back up with a fence pole or something, or is it ruined structurally now? Thanks guys, I am so pissed I can't see straight!!
  8. Thanks for all the help guy, I am back on the road! I ended up rplacing the spade connectors and shrinkwrapping them separately, which worked like a champ. Josh (jb4xx) even called and offered me the use of the harness from his turbo b ike! This forum rocks!
  9. Thanks a lot guys... my plug/wires are kind of cooked, but I think I will try to fab something up this weekend. It is killing me not riding!!!!
  10. i dont have a yamaha pigtail... just the rectifier and my old wires. I am wondering about maybe some spade connectors and wire?-
  11. OK, so my rectifier died on 2-10. I bought a yamaha one from ebay and ordered one of the custom connectors from Mike. The issue is, he sent it to the address on my paypal acct, and I have moved since. My mail is forwarded, but I have yet to see the connector. My bike is my primary transportation to and from work, the wifey has been driving about 80 miles per day taking me back and forth. I spoke to mike, and he is in VA till monday, so i can not order another one till then anyway. Does anyone have any suggestions at all to get me on the road here? Should I buy some spade connectors and make my own? I am having serious withdrawals not riding for almost a month!! Thanks for any suggestions offered
  12. I would recommend PR... you chould get that mileage no problem, and they are not a bad tire to puch semi-hard in the twisties either.
  13. I bought an integrated tail light for my bird (not a clear alternatives) It seems really nice but the connector doesnt match my factory harness. Anyone had any experience installing one of these that isnt plug and play? I can provide pics if necessary. Thanks!!!!
  14. how about repairing a crack in the rear cowl? When I first got my bird, my wife sat too far back and there is about a 1 inch crack in the middle right behind my seat. Can I use some sort of epoxy from the inside to keep it from growing anymore?
  15. so you are watching that one on ebay too huh...
  16. nope, no centerstand on ebay... but i am now watching a corbin seat that has a small tear in it, lol
  17. very cool info John, never thought about it that way before... about to go comb fleabay now
  18. Would love to, but the center stand wont fit around my exhaust
  19. I bought the 6mm shim and will probably install it after work today. Just trying to figure out the best way to approach it without a centerstand (the first thing in the instructions is to have the bike up on the Cstand) It seems like it needs the free play underneath the rear wheel to let it drop when you loosen the shock mount to give room for the shim to fit. Any help offered would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  20. i am sure that the fuel pump does not run unless the switch is on, I can hear it run if i turn on the toggle. I will be getting new plugs though, will install them this we4ekend. Thanks for all of the tips so far though
  21. would I be able to visually see a leak in the solenoid? I did ride in to work this morning. It seems that it when it first starts in the morning it is running on two cylinders and if I just let it sit on choke it will die. I kept giving it twists of throttle till it eventually seemed to "catch it's breath" and rev smoothly and run like it should. From then on I let it idle for about 5 minutes, then it ran great the entire trip to the office.
