  1. Thought I would jump in here to... My family and myself have started the SouthBeach Diet. We kinda combined Phase 1 and Phase 2 though. Phase 1 is too difficult for all of us to try. In any case, we are learning how to shop for food better and what healthy foods are out there. I found it suprising that you really can't trust any of the labels on the packages at all! The first time I went shopping it took me like 2 hours because I had to read all the ingredients of everything I was buying . In any case I'm down 11 pounds in 3 weeks. Pretty good for me. Quiting drinking, and snaking was probably the most difficult part of the diet for me. Also, just finding "good food" when you're out and about is near impossible, so I usually just have salads with beans or something. Anyways, I like how I feel and my pants are fitting much better (FYI - I was 234lbs. , now 223.5 ). I guess my goal is 210lbs (after all I'm 6'2"), but mainly just healthy. -Obby

    Charging problems

Yeah, Thanks for explaining the stator testing. I better do that before installing a R/R or I may just short it out. Now I just need some time to work on it . Since this is my primary form of transportation, I can't just tear it all apart and take my time tracing the issue. Gotta get my ass to work on it everyday.

    Charging problems

Yeah, that's a pretty cool farkle. And I read your thread, sounds like you went through hell getting your charging problems resolved. Glad you got everything squared away. I'm hoping for the easy plug-in fix myself

    Charging problems

Ok, now i'm getting confused. Yesterday I checked the voltage again after riding home from work and it's was charging again :? . The reading was like 13.5 increasing to 14.5 at 5k rpms. I suppose it could have been due to me charging the battery fully the other night. Not sure what's going on so I'm going to keep charging the battery every night at low voltage until I get this nailed down a little more. Does this still seem like a R/R issue?

    Charging problems

I have a '99 reg/reg too (same type), unfortunately i've heard that it will not provide the correct voltage regulation for our birds. Let me know if i'm wrong (be careful). -Obby

    Charging problems

The plot thickens . FWIW, my symptoms were pretty much the same as well. Obby, did you perform the troubleshooting routine for the R/R and stator? No not yet, with it being "the silly season" and the motorcycle show here in San Jose this weekend, I probably won't get to the real "by the book" troubleshooting until a week from now. Charging the batt. every day now seems to be keeping me running for now. Thanks, Obby

Thanks for the heads up. Anyone else 3rd the R/R motion?

    Charging problems

Says in the manual check all the yellow wires comming from the stator to be "nominal", anyone know how to check for that reading? Does that mean "0".

    Charging problems

Funny guys... I did find a long ass article that could possibly nail down the issue here.... http://www.electrexusa.com/Images/fault_finding.pdf but i was hoping that someone here would be able to assist.
  10. For some time now I've had to charge the battery, say once every 2 weeks or so, now the systems not hardly charging at all. When I tested the voltage at the battery, it was putting out 12.5 with no change as I rev'd it up to 5k. Does anyone know if that means the reg/rec. is at fault or if it's the stator? PS. The battery is a stock replacement Yuasa that is about 1.5 - 2 years old and takes and holds a full charge (seems to be ok). Thanks, Obby
  11. I would if I had the time. We currently have 2 BIG jobs going. We broke ground on both last week. Its going to be crazy busy now through summer. First job is a 2 story room addition. We tore out the family room and garage and extending the FR 12ft and going up and over both. Second one we tore off a single car garage so we could get to the backyard. Adding a 24x34 shop in the back and after its done, we extend 3 sides of the house, out 6ft. Roof will have to totally be removed and new floor, walls and roof will be added. Its a huge project especially with only 3-4 (Me and another guy and 2-65yrs+ oldschoolers) of us doing everything from start to finish. That project sounds sweet. I wish I knew more about that stuff. The house I bought back in Feb. is a 50yr. old house that is just screaming for a few updates.
  12. I took a few pics of my install. Linky here... http://www.cbr1100xxforums.org/forum/viewt...p=292383#292383
  13. Randy, I need you to come by and help me out on my basement. It's currently unfinished and in dire need of some attention.
  14. Can we get a group buy on these Euro Switches? I bet alot of us with HID kits could use them. In any case, I'm in the market for one.
  15. +1 That's pretty much what I did when I plugged mine. I didn't use any heat, but I did leave mine sit overnight.
  16. I bet he jumped the cam chain and bent some valves.
  17. Not really my style either, but the work looks great!
  18. THanks for the update. That is a new one. Somebody playing around back there or something? Really odd thing to happen. Maybe too many wheelie or something.
  19. That's the estimate. I wouldn't doubt it, I got a 150hp dyno run on my jetted '97 here at sea level.
  20. If I remember correctly there is a difference in the front wheel in the years. Can a '99 front wheel be put on a '97? Thanks, Obby
  21. A ZX 14 pehaps? +1 This 'ought ta do it? 200HP at the wheel (stock). http://www.zx14ninja.com/
  22. Have you done a search on Wiring Loom or Harness, the 99 is known to have a bad wiring harness at a connector (don't remember where the connector was). Here is a good writeup... http://www.bikersoracle.com/blackbird/foru...light=wire+loom

    HID Problems

I was thinking of doing that too. I have a feeling it will work if "switched", but I wonder why it worked fine at first, then started acting up? Right now I'm still using the key/starter switch method and it's been working consistently. I may just use the highbeam plug and forget the having a highbeam, I rarely need it anymore. Edited: Key method is not working now either

    HID Problems

I only have the low beam . No can testy. I didn't have time this weekend to work on it, but by using the starter switch method it's been working. I really don't like having to start the bike that way though (takes both hands  ).
  25. In the manual, I see the BI (black) from the regulator going to the BI/W (black/white).
