  1. Here's one for ya. I'm looking at my receipt right now and it says 5.91 gallons (on 159.4 mi = 26.94 mpg.). The kicker is I ran out of gas and coasted the last half mile. I thought this thing had 6.3 gal. cap.? '02 5800 mi.
  2. Hey CalcXX, What are the basic steps for raising ride height? I remember Joe posted a great idea where he cut the washers so he didn't have to remove the shock or something like that, I'm not sure. That thread was lost when the board crashed  Thanks, Lance
  3. Here is the part # to save centerstand. If you go with the Akra system it sounds like you have to modify this part even further to keep it off of the chain. Can't wait to hear how all this fiddlin' works out for ya Mith, because I think I'm getting over my head on this one. I thought the VFR bars were major surgery. Oh well, have to learn sometime right? Lance
  4. Hey WHENDEATHCOMES what's up? I overheat too while idling. That's why cutting traffic is legal  so I wouldn't worry about it. Goose your throttle a few times and it will cool a little. The clicking noise is your CCT. An inexpensive and easy repair (from what I've read on the old, vanished forum).
  5. While we are on the subject....Here is what I'm after: the most performance-enhancing bang for the buck. Will the Akra full system w/ a PCIII will add more HP, enhance drivability, and reduce weight more effectively than the slip on route? That is what I am assuming. I love my centerstand, but I figure I can get a Pit-Bull or something similar if I have to lose it. Not to mention that the full system is less than slip-ons. Oh yeah, I would like to have a deeper, throatier exhaust note also.
  6. Welcome Willxx. Can't help on the technical stuff, but welcome to the board and let me know when you want to ride. I live in Pauma Valley off of the 76. Lance
  7. Thanks Mith, and since I am learning all of this as I go, I assume when I order the system they will include the O2 block offs if I tell them I have a Cali model. BTW, what exactly are you getting as far as Akra model, etc. P.S. I was torn between the look of dual slip-ons, and the performance & price of a full system. I just can't pass on the full though. Lance
  8. Mith, I'm interested. I have a Cali '02.
  9. I agree. I did the Race Tech valves and springs. The difference is noticeable instantly. Along w/ VFR bars, and a Givi windscreen, it feels like a new bike. I think it is well worth the cash. Lance
  10. Update on squeak: It is definately going away. I guess the springs just needed breaking in, and the guy at the shop said it is definately normal. For anyone considering this mod it is well worth it. The difference is dramatic. It will be the first mod I do to any bike I have in the future. Thanks for all the help everyone. I really appreciate the it. Let's go ride Jimmy when you get settled. Lance
  11. Pray that you wore your leathers that day

    Yup, WD-40 worked for me!
  13. Thanks for the info guys. I am using Internet Explorer so I can post. This fucking invalid_session shit is pissing me off. SD Marc: I got it done @ Escondido Cycle Center. They have a self proclaimed Race Tech expert and claims to have done this mod to a few XX's in the past. I guess it is the springs rubbing inside to fork tubes. I'm going down there tues. to get this fixed. For what I paid I don't think it should be making this sound. Also, the dumbfuck put my lower left reflector on backwards and while turning right into a parking space the reflector caught my fairing and I almost laid it over. It didn't do any damage to fairing, but did pop out the body clip. I'm just going to have him remove the fucking things like I should have done in the first place.
  14. The sticker on my new screen says "Antishock do not use cleaning substances" does this include Plexus?
  15. Sorry guys, I was getting "invalid_session" for the longest time when I was trying to post a reply. I rebooted, and it seems to have been fixed. (Sorry for bugging you Swampnut  ) The weight of the oil is 5w Back to the squeak. It sounds like someone is jumping on a pogo stick, or a squeaky bed spring. It sounds like "EEEEEEEOOOOOOOO" :???: , if that makes sense. Lance
  16. Well, I bit the bullet and got the Race Tech valves/springs installed yesterday. What an improvement! Like many have said here the change is instantly noticeable. There is one thing that is bugging me though. When I apply the front brake and the forks compress, there is a terrible squeak. It sounds like a pogo stick. I'm hoping it's just the new springs, but it still doesn't seem right. Other than the noise, there doesn't seem to be anything functionally wrong. Thanks, Lance
  17. Big Boy, that is exactly what I'm feeling. I noticed it first w/ my hands on the bars, in first gear @ 8k+ rpm riding twisties. I noticed a slight wobble under deceleration/when I cut the throttle w/ light grip pressure. It sounds like it might be the tire. I'm almost due for a new one anyway. Thanks, Lance
  18. Is the gas that old too? Just a thought.
  19. Someone else mentioned this earlier, but I wasn't sure if anyone else experiences this. I went for a ride today and it seems to happen in the top of first or second at high rpm when I let go of the handle bars. As the bike slows, it develops a severe shake. I thought I was going into a tank slapper. The strange thing is, it only seems to happen on certain types of asphalt. I don't know if the road surface can cause it, but it doesn't seem to happen every time I attempt to make it happen. I checked tire pressure, and my steering head bearings seem to be o.k.
