  1. What brand of fork seals do most members in here favor? I know there is a difference in price but what about quality? I don't mind paying a little extra if there is a difference in quality. Also, should I change the bushings while I have the forks apart? What about the dust covers?
  2. James...your front tire looks cupped too, could be from those red wings causing undue stress and wind resistance which makes the front end oscilate, in turn causing your front wheel to cup. 8) James, is there much difference in stopping power between the stock rotors and the wave rotors?
  3. Thanks Steve, I appreciate the advice. CBR Bearing Company? I'll have to check them out and I'll go with the tapered bearings. James....a man must wheelie from time to time....it tends to tighten up things that tend to sag with time
  4. Front tire looks cupped to me  You might need to sell me those Microns, That will help out a lot. Well.... it will help me anyway  Whats up Kenny? You back on dry land? if so we need to get together and go for a ride. Mrs. Smith says hey.
  5. While washing the XX today I noticed the left fork seal is leaking  Not bad but I don't want it to get bad. Fork oil is not running down the fork yet. Also my steering head bearings are notched and need replacing so I thought it would be a good time to do both. Here is where the help is needed. Fork seals - Are they pretty straight forward? Besides the fork oil, is there anything else that needs to be replaced? My wife rides with me quite often, actually 99% of the time, any suggestions for the forks reguarding two-up riding? Steering head bearings - Same questions as above 8) I am mechanically inclined and do all my own wrenching on all my vehicals, just never needed to do much of anything to my XX. After all it's a Honda.
  6. Hey Kenny, I think you need to bring it up to my house and leave it with me while you go back offshore. I'll test ride it and give you my personal recomendations. I promise to take very good care of it for you. You know how good my XX looks  On that note you can bring your XX too and I'll make sure that there is no cob webs or dirt dobber houses growing on it. Again I promise to take extra special care of it for you
  7. James, you know my XX has a K&N don't you? The first thing I noticed after installing the K&N was I could hear the ram air intakes. With the stock filter no matter how hard I opened the throttle you couldn't hear the air intakes. The K&N has been in the bike now for 4 years with no apparent harm. I do keep it clean and well oiled and engin oil is changed EVERY 3000 miles. Hope this helps.
  8. Stop riding around hitting the brakes every 5 seconds...and release the parking brakes    I've got you some antisqueel headed your way via...you guessed it...USPS.
  9. James has an air pressure guage comming via USPS....His tires will dry rot before the guage arives
  10. Hey Kenny, there is another company selling that style of rotors, may be the same company James is talking about. If memory serves me right they are called Strem-X. Like I said "if memory serves me right"
  11. I have a 15 foot boot like yours that I'd give you. Mine has a crack at the front. You could take two boats and make one out of them
  12. Hey James, I'm sure the USPS will get the paint to you in no time
  13. Good thing you didn't get it through the USPS :poke:

Have Dremel, will cut I'll probably replace the bearings when I get back from vacation. I don't have time to before then. That storm IS a monster and it looks like it will be gaining strength. If it makes landfall at a cat. 4 or 5, don't even think about riding that one out. Evacuate early  Keep us all informed on how things are going. I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer.
  15. James, are you sure you don't want me to send you some by the USPS?????         They might arive with your Plex.

Mechanical skills I have. I know Honda has a tool similar to what you made. I have access to a hydraulic press if I need one. I like the all thread idea. Did you go back with the tapered bearings? Good luck with the bad weather. That side of the US has had its share of bad stuff this year

Hi G2, I need to replace my steering head bearings too. Did you do the work yourself? If so how did you remove the bearing races and press in the new ones? I don't trust the stealership here to do ANYTING plus they charge two arms and a leg  Thanks
  18. Sorry, EBC HH here. If you need the EBCs, my buddy up here has them. I can send you some via USPS  By the time you got them you would have NO rotors left
  19. I want one from Joe
  20. I've heard of using compressed air. I'd be worried that it might try to straighten out all the curves in the tank. Might end up with a beachball for a tank  BUT, that might give you increased tank capacity :poke:
  21. I also have a 4 X 8 trailer. Mine is a tilt trailer which makes loading and unloading a breeze. On the bottom of the trailer I bolted a 3/4 sheet of exterior plywood. I bolted two 2 X 4s 2 feet long at the front, one on either side where the front wheel sits. I cut the ends of the 2 X 4s facing the rear of the trailer at a 45 degree and smoothed the edges so it wouldn't damage the front tire. Works great. I also use the 3M non-slip stair tape straight up the center to help prevent tire slippage. Do not wrap your tiedowns around the rails of your trailer. It will chew right through them in no time. Use eye-bolts. I also use a quicklink through the eyebolts and through the eye part of the hook on the tiedowns. I don't trust just the hook. A quicklink looks like a chain link with a threaded sleeve or long nut on one side of the link. Unscrew it, slip it through the eyebolt then slip the eye part of the tiedown hook through it and tighten it back down. Then it cannot come unhooked for any reason. Don't ask me how I know about this  You can get quicklinks at Home Peephole (Depot) or some hardware stores have them. Two straps at the front with the Canyon Dancer and two straps at the rear and you should be set. Besure to compress your forks while you tighten the front straps.
  22. My 6mm likes Noslers 70grain BTHP Match bullet on top of a max load of IMR4350. One half inch or better at 100 yds with very little effort. It is definitely a crow killer at any sane distance
