  1. PM sent on the Technic bag. Edit: Pass on the bag. Seeking magnetic...
  2. A++ John delivered my parts personally to the UP of MI, in a winter storm no less :icon_thumbsup:
  3. Coming from Pilots, I'm interested to see how the PR2s compare. Anybody have opinions on the PR2s that came off Pilots or Pilot 2cts prior to the PR2s?
  4. FWIW I've had good luck with water wetter. Pay attention to anti-freeze mixture ratios too. Running less anit-freeze/more water will help reduce operating temps. If you're in a southern climate you do not need protection to -50F.
  5. The official time to replace your chain is at NeXXt when Hobi's got a beer in hand All kidding aside, I got about 22k from my stocker and am proactive about keeping chains clean & lubed. I do not have an automatic oiler. At the very end, I noticed slow speed lurching just as Joe described and about 500 miles prior to that I started to notice a few links binding. Swingarm indicators were not yet in the red. If you've got any long trips planned I'd swap it out first.
  6. I remember reading somewhere that the road diplaces much more water that the power. I don't remember the stats but it was substantially more. Looking at the tread patterns it would make sense that the roads could channel water more effectively. In standing water I would bet the road is much better.

    Lean

Has the bike been sitting alot? If so, dirty carbs can lean things out as well. I'm assuming any shop running a dyno worth their salt would check things out but you never know.

  9. As some of you know I rented a Kaw for TBME. It was from Pacific Motorcycle Rental in the bay area and I've got nothing but good things to say. There are few places renting sport bikes in this country, but these guys are doing it right. Rates are reasonable, insurance is available (only $15 per day), they've got a diverse rental fleet with new machines, and the customer service was stellar from the booking of the reservation through turning in the bike. These guys helped coordinate transportation to/from the airport including pick-up from the bus stop. They provided saddlebags & a tankbag for free. They got me in/out quickly with minimal paperwork. They offer discounts on gear for renters. They've got motorcycle specific detailed route maps for many of the best rides in northern Cali. They have a pretty liberal cancellation policy w/ full refund 72 hours out. On top of all this they are in the heart of some of the best roads in the US. http://www.rentasportbike.com/ :icon_clap:
  10. This thread is f'n hilarious kf4, all you really need is a 30 to 40 mph tailwind and you're gearing will get you there. Since we're rolling in on hurricane season you should be able to hang around on the leading edge of the next named storm.
  11. Josh is right. 5k is about right for a Power rear. I do run higher pressures when slabbing though.
  12. Vari-Cleer made by Super Seer. Use it on the bike helmets and the snowmobile helmets too. This stuff works!
  13. I'll add zip-ties. You never know when someone is going to have a get-off...
  14. I have a sport chock for the track bike and really like it. If you're looking for a chock to use in more places than just on the trailer, it's perfect.
  15. I run an Arrow full system with a round CF can and the top back edge of my can touches the bottom of the right bag ever so slightly. The rest of the can has plenty of clearance. The arrow system positions the can at a steeper angle than stock by a few degrees. If the Scorpion slip-ons position the can in the same place and angle as the stocker, my guess is that they will fit. If they don't clear the bags round cans might.
  16. PM on it's way John. I'll take one in smoke please 8)
  17. Thanks John! Good to know we've got a hook up! How tricky is the install? If it's not too tricky I would be game for ordering a kit.
  18. I've got to find a way to get some good looking rear turn signals on my bird and am considering these. http://www.shopserv3.com/Merchant2/merchan...Smoke.cbr1100xx Anybody running them? Any comments about quality or ease of installation? Anybody have the smoke version (is it too dark)? After chopping the stalks and mounting a pair of Lockhart Phillips signals in the openings on the sides of the tail, I picked up some beetle bags. With the bags on my signals are completely useless and they are not much better than that with the bags off.
  19. I'm glad to hear that clutch noise is normal. I've been hearing that for about 5K miles now and I was hoping it was not a rod
  20. If you take a harder compound tire like the Avons or the Pilot Roads and drop the pressure in the twisties, can you get them to heat up enough to stick really, really well?
  21. Now that cold weather has been in Chi-Town for a while, I'm noticing a new problem on my '00 XX that has otherwise been very good to me. In my experience, the FI usually temporarily increase rpm (and richens mixture I think) in colder conditions. It is not currently doing that. This is the only symptom I've noticed though. Seems to run fine after warm-up. FI light goes off prior to start-up and stays off. I'm not as mechanically inclined as I'd like to be, but hate going to the dealer unless it's serious. Anybody have a similar experience with their FI XX? Any suggestions on this issue would be appreciated.

Not that it will solve the cause, but you may want to consider installing heli bars filled with silicone. I did that on my '00 and the bars are almost completely dead.
