  1. Last time I changed my oil, I trued the washer on a flat 220 grit stone. This removed any irregularities in the washer and flattened it out. I had the time and forgot to buy more washers. Bottom line, no leakie.

  2. I also have a 98 and went with Scorpion Carbon slipons, K&N filter, and K&N jet kit (Dyno Jet). I put the larger set of mains in, they call them 140's. Then you dril the slides with the supplied drill bit and I put the clip in the 3rd position on the new needles. Runs much better, but there is more room for improvement. I have some dyno time coming this spring. I think the exhaust made the biggest change of course.

  3. So I am in my local Honda dealer, kicking tires and picking up a few items from the parts counter. I overhear part of a conversation between a service guy and a customer. The customer was saying he bought a CBR in the fall but he had problems with it and hardly rode it. Everytime he turned on the high beams, the bike would immediately die. He would have to pull over, turn the high's back off then restart the bike. The service guy was understandibly curious and was asking more questions. The guy then gestures himself turning on the high beams with his right hand on the right clip-on. I was stunned. I was next in line, but I could not speak to the parts guy. I was like, "Uhh.... Just give me 3 NGK BR8ES sparkplugs."

I hoped to all that is holy that guy was joking/trolling/shitting the service guy.

I feel like a genius now.

  4. Do you have an expected price range based on the number of participants? It would be

nice to know what dollar figure we're talking before signing up. Thanks.

    +another,

Also is this a plug and go setup or will we have to modify the wiring and headlamp socket. Do you have any install instructions or photos?

    Thank for putting this together

  5. +1 for the t-stat hole mod. I have had several cars that saw summer only use here in MI. I would pull the stat, and just drill some hole into the housing, alowing more coolant to flow through.

I have a supercharged Cougar that showed HUGE results using redline water wetter. Dropped the temps dramatically.

  6. You would have better results painting the tank white. Or maybe not.

I would suggest using the foil-backed Dynomat. It is self-adhered, and reflects heat very well. I used this on the insides of my plastic when I repainted. It is very light weight as well.

  7. What kind of kits were the K&N ones? I bought one of those off EBay like 2yrs ago. I can't remember if they were Dynojet's or Factory's.

When I installed mine, I used the bigger mains (140?), needle in 3rd pos, and idle screws 3 turns out. Bike runs great, no flat spots, and my mileage is in the 30's.

-Edited to add- I also have Carbon Scorpions and a K&N filter.
