i just brought. a remote alarm/starter. anybody installed one. on there bird? if so. can i get some advise? asfar as connecting it up. 99bird

i just. put a towel on them. with the help of a friend. holding the bar's straight. i just push on the caliper's with my foot. work's for me. take's a second. pad's off. pad's on. slowly pump lever. til hard. go riding.

put new switch on. bike start's fine. thanks all.

I rode my 99 bird home wednesday nite ,i went into the house to get car keys, to put bike in front of my car",i hit the start button! cranking over but not starting, so i just covered it up went in for the nite," in the morning , i got on the bike, togo get gas.the bike started know problem. but 2miles down the road the bike stalled in the fast lane so had to coast to the side of the road,cound"nt get it started. a friend came to pick the bike up with his trailer,so we got it home. so i check the fuses, all were good. lifted the fuel tank, to check the wires on fuel pump. they are good but cleaned them anyway. checked all the wires, in the bunch under the tank. no loose ones found. then i checked the on/off switch, i giggled it and heard" the fuel pump come on, and then the fi light went off. so i started the bike!"with the on/off switch loosen from the bar's. the bike was running fine, for the warm up period. so i cut it off, by the switch, and tried to restart it.didnot start nor did i hear the pump come on. so i wiggled the on/off switch ,and then heard the fuel pump come on again. but this time, the fi light is not going out. and the bike wouldnot start. when i pushed the stop button off, the bike wanted to start in the off mode. then it back fired doing this.i put the switch back together,now i can turn it on and off, and hear the fuel pump working.but now, the fi light stays on and the bike will not start.can it be the switch? pump or both? the fuel pump comes on, every time i hit the switch now.but the bike will not start!and the fi light stays on. hmmm (oh can you bypass the starter button?)

i have the new mototech it's a very nice peice and colors match i saw it on motobeagle bike before he sold it and talked to him about install, had no problems after his help, i dont have pictures of my bike with it installed but get lots of compliments on it. got it from hardracing out of north carolina fast shipping good service but make mention of the key holder clamp bracket in the tail so they send it with the tail.1-704-799-2192 thanks again motobeagle.

sounds kinda like car starter problem with a bad tooth on it, and you roll a little bit put in back in park which moves the flywheel from the area just out of reach of the tooth too within reach to engage it, it's worth a look and not hard to get too.

If you are like me, you installed the pc yourself with a zero map on it, what i found out is you cant go up into the rich zone without having your fi light comes on, Did it? if so you just have too keep your adjustments in the lean area or have a custom map done, the 99 in very sensative to adjustments to the ecm though the pc2 causing it too get to much fuel .i had mine mapped and the shop did'nt know what they were doing and my bike had all the symptoms you are having before i just unpluged the pc2 and all was well had my money refunded and waiting for my appointment with another shop who knows how to work on the 99birds from the conversations i had with the tuner, hope this helps.

I use bike master, lots of room,good fit no rubbing, also there tank bag backpack. had no problems running over 165+mph to bike week in myrtle beach.

I'am on my third in two weeks first two after i filled them with acid i took them to the local advance auto for a complete charge during the test of 5 minutes test said to replace, but the third i filled with acid then brought my own trickle charger and sofar lights are brighter then i remember so maybe you hav'ta get a couple bad ones to get a good one,and charge it fully yourself.

okay thats what i thought, and the bird is running good even sounds smoother when cruz'n with d&d's, but tapes off since i ride anywhere and everywhere. okay so is it pluged when pcll installed? i ask because i had my bird on the dyno a month ago but they did'nt know what they were doing a readout of a run said 146bhp to the ground but at the same time the fi light was on the whole time and they told me they thought it was the side stand light, thanks for your help.

While looking for the electrical problem on my 99 bird i removed the baro sensor and noticed that there is no plug or cap covering the hole in the bottom of it. ? since the baro sensor and the map sensors or the same is there suppose to be a cover or plug on the end of it since the map sensor has vaccum tubes connected to it. i taped mine off and don't notice any problem in the way it runs. Are the 99-00 the only birds with the baro sensor?

problem fixxed, man i tell ya it's alot of things that go wrong with the bird during this mission,but for now on any thing electric that happens to the bird GO STRAIGHT TOO THE LOOM, THIS IS TWICE WERE I FOUND THE PROBLEM. CORROSION CORROSION CORROSION, CLEANED IT UP AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL THINGS THAT DIDNT WORK WORK NOW, SO AGAIN CHECK THE LOOM THAT HOLDS ALOT OF CLOUT ON THE BIRD. Thanks for all the help.

Okay i am going to take the battery to get a full charge. since the brake lever and foot brake now make the FI light come on, im wondering if bad switches could cause this aswell as a not fully charged battery?

Well i cleaned all the fuses and the only ground wire i saw beside the rear of the fuel tank before i replaced the battery, the lights still didnt come on after the battery was replaced until i took the high beam fuse out. Are there others grounds i missed?

OKAY, i have been doing some searching for loose wires blown bulbs and fuses, all good but when i take the fuse out for the highbeams, the low beam comes on and stays,so i rode the bird to the local advance auto to have the battery tested, the battery was bad, so i replaced it, but on my way there when i would pull the front brake lever or pushed the foot brake the the FI light comes on AHHHH, also with the turn signal fuse out i would turn the left blinker on but the right would blink and vice versa Dammm, what now? any help?

Battery is about 2 months new, lights are bright as can be then boom without warnning they do the above and last until i hit the high beams then back to normal operation, ride find no loss of anything but momenterally lighting. may have to have charging system checked anyway. thanks

MY 99BIRDS LOW BEAM GO'S OUT BUT NOT COMPLETELY ,BOTH TURN SIGNALS LIGHT UP AT THE SAME TIME, HORN STOPS WORKING, BIKE STILL RUNS, I DRIVE IT AND TURN HIGH BEAMS ON AND REV A LITTLE, LOW BEAMS COME ON AND ALLS WELL, BUT IT HAPPENS TIME AND TIME AGAIN OVER THE LAST COUPLE DAYS, ANYBODY HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM? OH YEAH THE DASH LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN THE ABOVE HAPPENS AND COME BACK ON WHEN THE HIGH BEAMS RETURN THE LOW BEAMS BACK TO WORKING.

I WOULD CHECK THE LOOM ON THE LEFTSIDE WIRING HARNESS. I HAD THAT PROBLEM ON MY 99 CAUSED BY CORRION CUT THE TAPE FROM AROUND IT AND INSPECT AND CLEAN.I PAID THE DEALER TO FIND THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY HAD NO CLUE EVEN WHEN I POINT OUT IT COULD BE THE LOOM THEY DID'NT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. CHECK AND CLEAN FIRST BEFORE TAKING TO DEALER.

99 Bird, I had the problem last summer paid the dealer to find out what was wrong, paid a buck 55 they couldnot fix problem so i heard about the loom problem talked to the dealer about it they had no clue, so i took the loom apart myself on there parking lot after i paid for it, they were not happy with this but they wouldnot refund my money so i cleaned the loom right there,while making plenty of noise for paying for a repiar that didnot fix my bird.No problem since. So when your bird start buck'n like a bull ride, while out riding check the loom!!! it will probaly save your day.

No problems with synthetic oil, been using it for two seasons now, only warning i know of,Is to use synthetic without moly. moly will cause your clutch to silp.
