  1. First, I have to thank TJ for his advice on this, since I was previously stalled at one weight for weeks. It seemed odd, but I put my faith in it and he was exactly right.

    I was 226 on 3/24, and I'm 218 today.

This is amazing considering I've worked in some real beer and some bread, twice! It was just as TJ predicted though--I guess my body had found balance and even though I was still well under 40g/day and usually under 30, my Ketone levels stayed in the "trace" range and I lost no weight. Immediately after having a few beers one night, my Ketone levels then bounced up to mid-range in around 48 hours. Last weekend I had one real beer and some bread; Ketones were barely trace 24 hours later, but high 48 hours later.

Thanks again, just what I needed, and I never would have thought of this.

  2. Everything I've read, and everything the local tuners and racers have told me, goes along with what Mithrandir has said. While I respect Dan's opinion to some point, it's that--an opinion. He's also got a stake in the whole thing.

The "flow more oil" point is something everyone talks about. Looking at the RaceTech kit, I saw nothing but excellent craftsmanship and machining. Even the competing kits from Traxxion feature larger oil flow holes.

  3. You need to put it on a server somewhere, and then put the URL in your profile. If you don't have a web server to put it on, e-mail it to me and I'll put it on this server. It must be under 8k and properly sized.

  4. They should be in the backup file, but they can't easily be restored. They could be searched manually, I think, and then the text could be cut/pasted into a document. So if you have something you need out of there, let me know and I'll search for it. A good keyword or specific phrase would help.

  5. Ask your dealer to give you a good trade on the stock (fucking crap) tires before you even take it out. See the tire threads around here for other options. Personally I'm very sold on the Avon AV45/AV46-ST. Lots of grip, great handling, long life. The stock tires are just horrible.

Second item on my list would be the fork springs, unless you weigh around 130 pounds.

Third would be Race Tech fork valve kits (both kits).

BTW, have I mentioned that the stock tires SUCK?!

And did you just imply that this is your first motorcycle???

  6. I've been touching the exhaust canisters down with no sliding. The only limitation is that I can't just hammer the throttle out of turns, have to bring it on smoothly. That's my trade-off for the mileage. Personally I'm all about cornering speed and lean, much more than raw acceleration.

  7. That's a common issue. Many bike/tire combos do this. I haven't seen it with the 45/46, but did with a 39/36. It often is an indicator that your steering head bearings are too loose, so check those.

  8. The tread grooves are so big you can feel them at very slow speeds (under 10 MPH). No big deal. On freeways and rough pavement there are no issues. I'm at 3k miles as of today, and they hardly have wear. I know I'll get over 6k from the rear. I love the handling and grip.

  9. Personally I use my Pocket PC as an MP3 player. If you have any use for a pocket computer, this is a good way to get both in one. If you don't, then it's not worth the extra expense. A decent PPC can be had for $200 and a 512MB card for just over $100.

  10. In the last couple of days, I've had the FI light come on and stay on during wheelies. It goes off a couple seconds after I put it down. It doesn't seem to have any problem, but the light is on. This worries me since having the FI do something stupid while in a wheelie could have pretty negative consequences.

    Anybody ever seen this?
