  1. I didn't know you were here, I'm sure we could have torn some rubber off the sides while you were in town.
  2. Thanks for the input guys. I will give Dan a call, if I remember correctly he responds better to telephone communication than e-mail.
  3. Thanks Keith, that should do the trick for fork removal. Carlos, you might want to take a look at the info on that link, it might be a little out of date as far as current thinking for improving the front suspension.
  4. Right now I am leaning twords sending my forks to Traxxion Dynamics. Comments and insight that would push my decision either way are welcome. Thanks
  5. Tweety and I took our wheels off to get the AV 45/46's put on. My question is how much more work is involved in getting the fork tubes off in order to send them out to be revalved? What tools do I need? Is there a good writeup of the job? How hard is it to reinstall the tubes correctly? What is going to jump up and bite me in the ass? Thanks in advance.

    RAM GPS mount.

Nice job, looks good to me.
  7. I got beat up by the XX when I first got it but after getting the rear shock setup for my weight and softening the damping on it it was much improved. Also suspension wise it is a known issue that the forks are undersprung and overdamped, you can get new springs and valves that will solve the problem and there are some current threads on this topic. You can slide the clipons up on the fork tubes about 3/4" without any problem if you remove the retaining clip that is there. Many board members have done either Heli bars or you can use the clipons from an '02VFR, the VFR bars more closely match the fit and finish of the bird than the Heli bars and are cheaper. You can get them at Ronayers.com. There is a writeup on the main website for upgrading your your grips with some Pro Gel grips these help. There is also a writeup on adding an NEP 3 throttle lock. I have done both of these mods, they are easy to do and help. Don't let your bird beat you up, a few mods and you will find it much improved. A 300 mile day will be a piece of cake after you get setup.
  8. Any oil will attract dirt. You could use graphite.
  9. Let me know how the fork spring replacement goes, I need to do it too.
  10. They look good, keep us posted on how they wear.
  11. I like using the kill switch built into the side stand. That way I know it's in gear and the side stand is down.
  12. /jedi mind trick on There are no nice beaches in San Diego. The surfing sucks in San Diego. You don't want to move to San Diego. /Jedi mind trick off
  13. Hmm... you make it sound like I could do that.
  14. I had the same situation when I bought my bike. The spring had way to much preload and there was no sag. The bike beat the crap out of me on every ride and made it unpleasant. It got to the point where I couldn't stand it. While a hammer and blunt punch is not recommended that is exactly what I did and it is much more rideable now. I would suggest removing the rear cowl to do this which is easy to do and only takes 5 minutes. You will then be able to see the pre-load rings from the left side. It is a pain in the ass but it can be done. Yes it's not recommended but then I don't recommend letting a bike beat the shit out of you either and I plan on replacing that shock anyway.
  15. Yup, I rotated mine down and it was catching on the light switch housing.
  16. Count me in on a set of mirrors.

    Grips

I picked up a set of them at Cycle Gear for $8.50.
  18. .... going to check my e-mail now.
  19. Hey Tweety how much is Cycle Gear charging you for the tires, I may follow your example. If you want help we could do it at the garage and take the wheels up at the same time in my truck.
  20. I was at Lee's Cycle shop inquiring into getting my forks revalved. They do Race Tech valves there but were pushing valves from Circuit 1. It was indicated that the Cicuit 1 were less expensive and more adjustable than other types of valves. Anyone hear of Circuit 1 or have any information or comments?
  21. I picked up Pro Gell Grips and the NEP throttle lock yesterday. I am curious if it is necessary to remove the bar end weights to replace the grips, I haven't taken a close look at it yet.
  22. Hey Tweety is that at Lee's Cycle? My BT57 is toast after this weekend.
