  1. Looking at the Ron Ayers fisch there are two listings for the radiator cap (19045-GBF-700 and 19045-MY3-621) which one do I need?
  2. OK. I have a dimmer switch in the kitchenette. It is one of those knob controllers that you push on and off. The problem is that it only turns on and off and the dimmer is useless. Well, I went and bought a new dimmer. When I pulled off the wall plate I found something weird. Instead of the expected wires into the box and wires out of the box, I found three sets. Each set is its own insulated wire with a black and white and a bare copper. All of the whites are tied together, the coppers are twisted together and hanging out in the back and the three blacks are going two into on side of the dimmer and one out. The old dimmer has two black wires. The new one has two black wires and one green ground wire to the frame of the dimmer. the previous owner of the house was a DIYer who, on some other projects I have repaired, cut a corner now and then. I don't know enough about wiring to know if this is another one. Any help? I can supply a pic if needed.

I'll get right on that. I have ordered a new tire from swmototires. I'll see what Avon does with the road hazard warranty. If they replace it...cool, I have a spare tire. If they don't, I'll have it patched and cool..I have a spare tire.

Just got off the phone with Avon, they said they needed a local dealer to inspect the tire to determine tread depth and to send the tire to for remounting. I told them about the dealer I already contacted and they said to try another and if I just couldn't find one to deal with, to call them back. I'll keep you all posted.

I bought the tires online Discount Motorcycle Tires. I had them mounted at a local dealer. The dealer said they won't do any paperwork or anything to that effect for the road hazard coverage because I didn't buy the tires there. I haven't contacted dmtaonline yet because I am not a big fan of theirs. I will if I have to. I sent an email to the customer support people at Avon and am waiting to hear back from them about what I need to do to get the ball rolling. Thanks all, I'll keep the board updated as to what Avon says.

BITCH!!! As you can see they are almost BRAND NEW TIRES! From the valley in the tread, you can see the object creating a bulge. The bulge appears to go ALMOST all the way down to the actual tire carcass. I am not sure if it goes all the way in or not. My question is what the hell do I do now? I think I should pull it out. If the tire goes flat, I can plug it until I can get a new one on. If it doesn't go flat, then how safe is this tire? Of course I could just leave it in. Suggestions?

    Spa Questions

We have on of those. It actually came with the house, but the former owner got it in a similar fashion. Ours sits in those round decorative stepping stones which, in turn, rest on gravel. It has been this way for the year we have been here and the four years that they had it. I think your pavers will work fine. You will need chlorine, they sell it at pool and spa supply stores. We usually use about a table spoon's worth. You can get a pool tester as well though we haven't yet and we have had no problems. The pool tester is a simple chemical test where you fill a tube with water from the spa and then add a chemical, the color of hte water measured against a chart that is part of the test kit will tell you what your chlorine level is and give you an acceptable range. There is also a chemical called a shock... actually it is called "SPA shock" by HTH industries. Throw a teaspoon or so of this in after you get out and it will keep the water from getting too cloudy. THe oils from your skin will make the water look a little funky if you don't use it. If you keep the water too hot, you will never stay in it for more than ten or fifteen minutes. This is fine if you are getting in it for theraputic reasons, but if you plan on a long soak or are having the fabled hot tub party, you will want to keep the temperature at aroun 99 degrees. It will feel a little cool when you first get in, but believe me, if it is hotter you won't stay in long. If the tub doesn't have a timer (I'm almost certain that it does) get one. You will want to set the timer to let the main pumps (not the bubbly jets) run for about two hours twice a day or the water will stagnate. This makes it a real bitch to clean. Ahhhh....cleaning. That sucks. You'll find you spend almost as much time cleaning it as you do using it. Well, the wife is calling, it is time to watch a movie, Bad Santa. If you have any more questions or you want pics of my setup, lemme know and I'll do what I can. Oh yeah, hot tubs can lead to :blowjob: Eric
  11. That is definitly an opinion. Now...back to that happy ending.
  12. I do believe that for $119, you never have to buy an oil filter again. You remove it, clean it, and reinstall it. Although, a 'happy ending' would increase their sales.

    Heat help

I replaced the mix about a month ago, so that isn't the problem. I am running 50/50 as mentioned above though. I'll change it to 20/80 with the water wetter this weekend and see how it goes.

    Heat help

OK...this has got to change. Houston is hot. To quote Biloxi Blues, "It's Africa hot". 90+ temps with 105 and up heat index from the humidity. The bird is my only transportation. In traffic, it burps coolant if still for too long. When I stop, it burps coolant after sitting for a minute or two as described in another thread. Black may be the fastest color, but in the sun it is also the hottest. I had a one foot by three inch, bright red heat rash on each leg where they gripped the tank. I realize that there is not much I can do about my own personal discomfort, I can deal with that. But, the bird must run cooler. I can't keep spitting coolant out whenever the bike sits still for a few minutes. Right now I am running 50/50 water and coolant with 5oz of Water Wetter. The fan comes on just when it is supposed to and goes off after I get some speed up. All seems to work well enough. What can I do to cool off the bird?
  16. What he said. ABS plastic glue. Loews/Home depot/plumbers supply.
  17. Bump....keeping it alive as I have had exactly the same problem. I, on the other hand, may have slightly overfilled my overflow. Shut it off yesterday and could hear it boiling after a second or two. Not right away...only after having been off for a few seconds, about the time it takes to get off helmet and gloves and make it to the garage door. I waited till it cooled a little and added some coolant to replace any that might have boiled over. No problem on the way to work, but after I got home...boiling sounds, this time accompanied by a nice stinky coolant burp from the overflow. Let us know how yours turns out.
  18. None here. That sucks man. Glad you made it home safely.
  19. Your left mirror should have the, "Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear" warning.
  20. Suddenly I am very aroused  <homer simpson> Black chrone...arrrgggglllleeeeee. </homer simpson>
  21. That seems to be the popular opinion around here. Maybe someday we will have the "Official Online Tire Store for the CBR1100XX Owners Group".
  22. P.S. - When you click on the address: sales@discountmotorcycletire.com to send them an email asking for a tracking number or to register a complaint, it comes back rejected, undeliverable. Is this even a real company?
  23. I ordered the tires on 3-29-04. They were listed as in stock. I called today, 4-7-04 and was told they shipped out yesterday with an estimated delivery date of 4-12-04. Of course, we shall see. I did a search and found that I am not the only one who has experienced long shipping times with these guys. http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forum/viewtopic.p...ight=dmtaonline Personally, I won't order from them again. Who wants to wait two weeks when you need new tires? Should have done more research.
