  2. Thanks for the info RR. I have been trying to find this for a long time. Also, I picked up my 900rr shock on eBay for $20 shipped to my door. Lindeman of course wanted me to consider something new and aftermarket but they also said that I would easily see a 100% ride improvement with the 900rr shock and the appropriate spring. Although they didn't come right out and say it, they hinted around that if I wanted to have my 900rr shock completely rebuilt by them (new spring, custom collar, oil, complete revalving, etc...) it would be on par with a mid-priced, comparible aftermarket unit (two-way Penske, perhaps). That service was quoted at $325. So, for less than $350, you'll have a shock that performs like those costing ~600 bucks. 1/2 price = I'm there
  3. Check out Lindeman Engineering. They put a 1000lb Eibach spring (and custom collar) on my 900rr shock for 130 OTD. By the way, what is the conversion formula for the springs? Anyone? -Bob
  4. v00d00child, Sorry about the "starter" thing but I couldn't remember your handle/ID after I hit the reply button. Lead in: I have not mounted this shock on my bike yet to see if the threads here are even legit (no flames, please. it's just paranoia of the "internet experts" at work here) but, due to the many threads on the subject, I figured that the ~125 Lindeman is charging for the spring + mounting is worth a shot. A fully rebuilt and resprung shock will run $325, which is also quite reasonable - assuming this shock will do the trick. And this is my basic question. I REALLY don't want to spend huge cash on an Ohlin's or Penske. So, does 900rr shock with a new spring improve things much over the OEM crap Honda installed on their flagship bike or not? Thanks in advance again for your comments, Bob
  5. Hi, I'm currently having Lindeman Engineering put a new spring on my recently acquired 900rr shock. Through the numerous threads about this shock I gathered that all that was needed was a new spring. But now, reading through this thread, it looks like folks are recommending a rebuild too? I know that the starter of the thread just wasted his N2, oil, etc...and thus requires a rebuild, but my questions is: Does the CBR900RR shock "work" (i.e. nice, happy, beautifully improved riding experience) with a spring replacement only? Or, does the whole thing need to be rebuilt? There are so many threads on this and the more I read them, the more confused, frustrated, annoyed I become (and honestly, I don't think I'm the only one). Thanks in advance. Your frustrated, fellow, "I just want a damn shock that works" XX owner, Bob
  6. Hi, I have a shock already (MAE-003x) and was wondering if any of you know of any recommended "default" settings for the damping and preload I should use as a baseline, before I begin tweaking? Thanks in advance, Bob
