    bt020 psi

I run 36 on the front, 36 back (for spirited or city riding). 40 for touring up front, 40 rear. (and yes, I do check it and change it depending on what I am doing). MaXX

    Hick-ups

If it isn't very consistent, maybe you have something in your fuel filter/fuel line. With FI though, it could be something as difficult to find as a frayed/shorting wire. Sorry, very little help I know. maXX
  3. Interesting!!!! I have had my LP bra on since new in 98. Never thought of any heat issues. For myself, I don't even notice the bra, unless I have shorts on and my fat inner thigh is sticking to it!!! MaXX
  4. Scott, if you have an aftermarket pipe and a jet kit, you may want to fatten up the pilot jets one size. I have a Factory Pro Jet kit and they suggest the pilots, but not required. I rode it for awhile and under 3,000 RPM's I had horrible throttle response and part throttle was a mess. Added the pilots and it corrected right up. Keep in mind though, through your deler or honda, the Keihen jets are like $13 a piece. I bought mine through a performance shop for about $20 for all 4. Just an FYI. MaXX
  5. Nik, get the fuck out of the Garage and back in the Pub!!!!!! MaXX
  6. That's funny, I had just posted on my ATV forum right before that and had the weight of my Rincon in mind. Oooooopppppsssss!!! MaXX
  7. Don, as has been stated, you would not gain much. I spent a lot of time getting up to speed on chains as I put an ERV on my Tuono. You may already know this, but each chain size is set up for a particular CC displacement. The bigger the displacement, the bigger the recommended chain. I do not know where the break points are exactly, but most 600 class bikes run 520's, my Aprlia's both run 525 (a compromise between strength and longevity with weight as the Aprilia's a very racing focused) and the + 750 or 1,000 bikes run the 530's. The 525 ERV is the weight of a 520 but actually exceeds the strength of many 530's. A lot of Super Twin and 750 + racers use this chain, as well as the lighter 520 kits but then you loose some reliability and longevity. The thing about chains is they are always trying to straighten out, just like a snowmobile track. The more weight, the more they try to go straight and not oblong (cetrifical force/reciprocating mass), thus the more power to turn them. The benefit in a lighter chain is then both the reduced weight in itself, and the reduced power it takes to turn that chain in a relative circle. On the XX, the gains would be minimal as a 600 lbs bike that is not in race trim isn't going to notice a slightly lighter chain (IMO). MaXX
  8. What does the Ram Air on the FI's give you (in real numbers)??? Anyone know? MaXX
  9. You can rev the bike to Redline in any gear. The bike will tell you when you have rev'd too high with the rev limiter. Now, you don't need to bang it off the rev limiter everytime you ride, but riding over 7,8, or 9K RPM's is no problem. Hell, EliXXir's bike hasn't rev'd below 6,000 RPM's it's entire 8,000 miles !!! Mad, I do not know where you came up with these rev limits/gear. The bike has built in limitations (Horsepower, Rev Limiter, traction....), I have found very few people that can ride this bike beyond its limits. The only limits you have are self imposed. Ride within your comfort, ability, road conditions...the bike will handle the best you can throw at it. ONCE BROKE IN AND OTHER THEN REDLINE AND THE REV LIMITER, THERE ARE NOT REV LIMITS/GEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MaXX
  10. I agree with the guys here Mad. This sounds like a problem of not having this engine under load. Imagine a top fuel drag engine never going above 500 RPM's and used as a commuter in daily traffic. The engine will be lugged around, never loaded, and will more then likely fail due to underuse. I do not know what your riding ability is but it sure sounds like the XX is a put-put bike for you (although 7k in 6th gear is over 100 MPH so you will go fast). These engines thrive on being loaded, not lugged. If I am just riding in traffic, I do typically do not shift until between 4,500 - 5,000 RPM's, no matter what gear I am in. If I am at a steady slow crawl in traffic, I will run it in whatever gear between 3,000-3,500. If I someone pulls up next to me and wants to see who bikes faster, I will run it up and in some cases, bang it off the rev-limiter (which is designed to keep the bike from over revving, but it is OK to go there whenever you want). You need to ride your bike harder. Equate it to the old "blowing the Carbon out of it" saying. Your bike sounds grandpa-ish, stiff and stuffy, let that thing stretch it's legs and loosen up a bit. I bet you see the lugging factor (vibration) work itself out. Made to beat, not babied. Ride it like a rental car (hey, I like that, I am going to add that to my sig. line!!!). MaXX

    Chain Breaker

    Ahhhhhh, good tip Carlos. Mac

    Chain Breaker

For me, I do not cut the chain off because I like to use it to pull the new chain through. Not really a big deal but by pushing the rivet out, you can push the master link through and pull it around the new front sprocket you just installed!!!! MaXX

    Chain Breaker

The motion Pro has worked fine, no problems but I have only done 5 chains. Rather then breaking the Motion Pro pins, I chose to grind the link down with the dremel first. Riveting is a piece of cake. It is very good for the $$$$$ MaXX
  14. The ZVM chain comes from DID in 120 links, you will need to cut 10 links off. MaXX

    Chain Breaker

The Motion Pro Kit is excellent because it rivets as well (the big kit, not the mini). Bought it on Parts411 for less then $100 I think. MaXX
  16. Ralph, why are you replacing your clutch?? Is it slipping??? If the steels are blued, just rough them up a bit with some sand paper and through them back in. This clutch is bullet proof. MaXX
  17. Say, I got an aftermarket front sprocket (I think it is sprocket Specialties too) and it has a lot more play in it after being tightened down then the stock front sprocket. Is this an issue??? Do I need to put a spacer in there?? Thanks. MaXX
  18. I decided to try the Sprocket specialties Titan Tough Aluminum rear. If it eats it up fast, I still have the OEM one I took off after 18,000 miles and it still looks good. The DID ZVM is a great chain. I ran a Regina last round and replaced it early because of my big June coming up (with the DID). I probably would have been around 25,000 miles with it (maybe). MaXX

    Grips

Yeah, I found them in stock at my local dealership tonight. Put them on why I was on the phone with Vern!!!! $8.50. MaXX

    Grips

I did a search and came up empty handed. I am looking for some good ST grips. I little thicker would be nice. Bruce, what grips do you have and where did you get them??? Mac
  21. I don't know if anyone else does this, but before I bought stands, I use to put the bike on the center stand, remove the rear tire, then have a helper push down on the bike, remove the front tire, and then take two 13" pieces of 2X4 and place them under the forks. This kept me from having to remove the front fender too. MaXX
  22. Looking forward to the pics!!!! Sounds like you got what you were looking for!!!! MaXX
  23. Try the Owners Org site. Maybe in here???? http://www.cbr1100xx.org/nav_faq.html MaXX
  24. Yep, that's what he has !!!!!! MaXX
