What meterial is used on the inside of the fairings. It looks like sponge, but I'm sure it's not just normal sponge?

I'm respraying and checking the XX - it's close to 100 000 km.

I saw that the "sponge" was looking a bit worn and damaged, thus with the respray I could just as well replace that too.

Thanks

Can you buy this stuff in sheets, I don't really want to go to the local stealer for this, if I could get the same thing for cheaper elsewhere....

you might try a toy store and look for flutter boards. Those soft closed cell boards that kids hold onto in a pool. They might be a cheap source of foam.

McMaster Carr. They have sheets of all types of foams and rubber.

I am not sure of the material that Honda uses, but my assumption is that it's there to prevent rattle. Whatever you purchase, make sure it is heat resistant. You don't want the foam melting onto the engine when it gets hot.

Please post up when you find what works.

You can coat the inside of the panels with spray on bedliner or undercoating. A little heavier but should last forever.

So what IS that stuffs purpose in life?

I've thought of chucking them, not so much the ones glued to the lowers but the ones that hang on the frame before you install the lowers. They're becoming a bit tattered.

Anyone get rid of them yet and suffer no dire consequences?
