silverbird1100 Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 I have the part #400019 and it says HA-1199 on the box. Correct according to K&N. The filter just lays in there like a floppy dildo and the edges hardly seal at all. The top of the air box also won't go down because the prongs(?) hit the K&N. The stock filter goes in just fine WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
The Krypt Keeper Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Might be the right box, but wrong filter.. Wife has a K&N filter on her car, and its a pain in the ass to get all the planets to line up so there is universal peace long enough for my to get the top of the intake housing back on. Quote
REXX Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I had the same problem. I ran a small bead of the grease provided in the channel the air filter lays in and then slowly bolted the top down until it was flush. I wasn't very pleased with K&N's quality...should have dropped in like factory IMO. Quote
silverbird1100 Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 What a bunch of shit. They didn't even give me any grease, will any high quality do? Do you feel confident there are no open gaps? Quote
MileHi Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Guys, The instruction were kinda interesting/confusing, but... You have to remove the O-ring from the airbox... NOT the airbox lid... Then the K&N drops into place nicely. Greasing the bead area on the airbox competes the seal for the filter. It took me a while to figure it out at first... Quote
silverbird1100 Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 OH, sweet! Thank you, I was about to trash it. Quote
REXX Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 Good point MilHi, I had forgot about that. Even after I had removed the O-ring the lid still didn't want to sit flush like factory. Quote
