Hooplehead Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I am going to start fixing and painting factory bike plastic on the side this winter. I need to get my new welder figured out, but I am completely sure of my scratch/gouge and painting ability. I have decided to share the tricks I've learned. Contact me if you are in need. Hope this helps. BTW: I have always been low on cash, so most of my fixes are very cost effective. More will be posted as I continue the project. Quote
redxxrdr Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I'm always out of money to. I relate to Al Bundy. Looks like a good start. I really need to learn the finishing part of this. Quote
TexasDawg Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Great ideal dude, never thought to use the super glue by itself. I don't have any damage now, but will keep this in mind. Thanks for sharing,,, Quote
Mekanix Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I would be concerned about flake out, but it's your plastic. I mixed up a very small batch of 2 part fill primer, painted into the scratches with a model paint brush, let it dry, lightly sanded and covered the whole part with black PPG primer sealer. I painted the whole piece, so ymmv. Good luck Quote

So far I've done this on a few pvc panels w/o issue. I will keep a really close eye tough, thanks for the concern. Quote
cbrxxquad Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Great write up, thanks, will give it a try. Looks to be a nice idea for filler. Quote
