Northman
I'm working on a buddy's Katana 750 ('01). Just took it out of storage, and the choke cable was siezed. I cut it off to open the enrichers manually, as the choke was stuck part way on. Clutch was also fried, so replaced that yesterday. Got the new choke cable in, and it works, but won't hold position. I can choke it, but it springs back. WTF? Any ideas? I didn't remove any linkage, just the cable off the arm on the carbs. I had to take apart the signal switch assembly on the left handlebar, but have had it apart again twice looking for a friction mechanism, and can't find anything. Help? :???:
nickc2s
You could post on Maximum-Suzuki.com , a very knowledgeable group on Bandits and Katanas.
The Krypt Keeper
might also try asking on www.katanaplanet.com
mickcbr1100
On my old GS650 it was just the tension of the screw holding the choke lever to the switch assembly and how tight you did it up as to how much friction you got on the lever, is it missing a washer if you can't do it up tight enough?. Northman
Problem solved upon further review. Being as the choke was already siezed when I got it, I didn't have a chance to try it out first, and assumed it was working fine until I disassembled it. Turns out the owner tried to repair it himself, and when he disassembled the switch & lever, "a little screw got lost" in the process. Thanks for the input, but I'll have a look at it again tomorrow, to see where that screw went, but I'm sure it was to hold tension on the lever.....
