blackbd1
has onyone tried or has had success with an electronic cruise control on their Dos X?? i have a modified universal vista cruise on mine now. it works okay, sometimes it is tough to get it set at some sorta constant throttle position. but it would be great to get a true cruise control (i.e. constant speed as apposed to constant throttle position) please advise
FiXXation
I've got a [probably dumb] question; what do you do with your right hand while you are on full electronic cruise? Mine is not just trying to maintain something close to a steady throttle but is also holding up my right body and responding to 30 mph side wind gusts. If you were resting weight and steering on the throttle grip, wouldn't it keep the cruise from working right?
BIG BOY
Contact Big Jeff from the board, he did it to his.
Big Jeff
Cruise rocks, A bit of a job to install though.
FiXXation
Humm. My arms from pit to thumb bridge are about 22 inches, 5'8" tall, and not enough gut to support myself on the tank while reaching for the grips. I also don't feel I can afford the possible costs of running fast enough to let the air blast support me, with eight vehicles on the insurance policy. :???: What is supposed to support the upper body weight on an XX? Sounds like another topic search coming up.
FiXXation
Thanks for the insights and sorry for the unintentional hijack of the cruise control thread.
jlheine
Your legs clamp to the motorcycle to form the basis of your strong foundation. After that, the muscles of your lower back support your torso, leaving your arms unweighted to control the motorcycle. Hard? For me it is.....especially in town. But then again, I wouldn't use cruise control in town, either. And with start and stop, you are always repositioning on the bike. I'm speaking more of open road and highway running. But your response leads to thought on my part, and an interesting theory, which I'll send to the pub when I get a chance. Joe, that riding style is exactly what the Honda Sport Riding Instructors teach here when they're doing the motorcycle autocrossing courses! It gets tiring in town, but, when you're really doing full-lock turn ==> all out ==> full-lock turn style, you do need to steer, and ZERO weight from your upper body should be on the bars, in order to have maximum CONTROL. wr0ngway
around town, you still need to keep your weight OFF of the bars, 'cause you can bend the front rim pretty easily, and thats costly and unpleasant.
2equis
I wonder if the the MCCruise control head is compatable or can be modified to work with the Audiovox cruise control :?:
