Chizuck
I'm starting to re-assemble my bird after a general re-cleaning and had a question about slip-on fit. The inner diameter of the slip-ons is a little larger (maybe 1mm or so) than the outer diameter of the pipes they fit over. I know the springs will hold them in place, but is there a common method of sealing the small gap to prevent exhaust leakage?
N1K
but is there a common method of sealing the small gap to prevent exhaust leakage? I cut a strip of sheet metal and rolled it around the pipe underneath the clamp, then screwed the clamp down tight... (my pipes didn't have springs)
kwxx
Use high temp silicone seal. That's what Buell uses to seal the slip joints.
