tecman
I took part in the group buy a few years back and got a Penske 8983. It was a great upgrade to the Bird. Now it is shot. It leaked out its oil and is no longer functional. I ordered a rebuild kit from Penske but neither of my local dealers will fix it. One says it does not have the proper tools to rebuild any shocks and the other says they will only rebuild stock OEM shocks. They recommended I send it back to Penske and have them rebuild it. Well, that is really not an option. Suggestions? I am going to try some of the other shops around to see if anyone can/will rebuild it. If anyone knows of a shop in the San Fran Bay area that will do the work I would be grateful. Thanks.
HANKSXXX
Send it back to Rick at Cogent Dynamics...he is very thorough and very fair and will verify the dampening on the shock dyno.
RichardCranium
Following Hanks recommendation I sent mine to Cogent last year. They were very busy at the time so it wasn't a super fast turn around as its a mom and pop shop but they got it done and back to me before I needed it. They are nice people and the shock seems to be as good as new.
jcrich
These guys are out in your neck of the woods, Lindemann Engineering. Jim Lindemann no longer owns it, but Ed Sorbo is well know in the racer world. http://www.le-suspension.com/
