XX4me
Doing a home built? If so cool. Try this site the guy who runs it knows his shit. There are also lots of others there who are very knowledgeable about turbo bikes . http://pub31.ezboard.com/bazbiketech Most of them ride Busas but they may be able to help on a map. sprack
I'm curious, whats the average cost of a turbo for the XX...parts, labor, tuning, etc. Just wondering how much I need to save.
MiDNiTXX
I'm curious, whats the average cost of a turbo for the XX...parts, labor, tuning, etc. Just wondering how much I need to save. There are alot of factors, but if you want a simple answer. $3755 for a Hahn turbo shipped, ~$300 to tune (if everything goes well) and you either do the installation yourself or find someone. $4700 for a Hahn turbo installed by EFR (I think thats the price) but that means you have to get your bike to Chicago. And then if you want to go above that...NLR sells an intercooled kit for $6000.
John01XX
Drop your bike off in So Florida and Veloscity Racing will install, tune and give you back a nice turbo charged bird for 5,200.00 out the door. Just like Kent Stoltz personal bird as seen at the Hoot. 8lbs of boost creates almost 260 hp.
MiDNiTXX
Velocity told me they quit making XX kits since it was discontinued?
John01XX
Maybe so. I do know they are putting one on a Bird right now. Spoke to the owner last friday night. I think it is the same basic turbo that they use on the drag bikes but just toned down. But not sure.
sprack
I think 260hp would just about right.

XX4me
Excellent advise Dean! The thing that probably killed my pistons aside from the shiity install of the Hahn kit by Interstate Honda aka Loveland Motorsports, was my ignorance of turbos. It's very important to learn as much as you can beforehand that way you get what you really want and it will stay together.
sprack
Thanks guys. I appreciate the advice. I've got some more research to do. Hopefully next winter I can start.
