F3 TRACK BIKE/WINTER PROJECT.

Recommended Posts

Some of you may have ready where I bought a CBR-F3 on black friday. Bike ran but was cosmetically gross. Frame, wheels, swingarm all rattle canned red, bodywork mistmatched and beat. I bought the thing with no title in hand, but paperwork enough to convince me a title could be obtained with a bit of work. Was going to use at the track so I didnt care.

Tore the bike all the way to bare frame and went to work with paint remover. Frame about 70-80% bare now, but needs further paitn removed then resprayed or coated. Opend the valve cover, adjusted valves to spec and did leak down - engine is good to go. New cam chain and manual tensioner. Forks apart but more or less ready to reassemble. Have the junk bodywork, tank is good. Bike is otherwise in boxes. Once the frame etc is cleaned up, you could reassemble and ride.

Purchased awesome Lindeman worked Ohlins rear shock and badass Arrow race exhaust (both used but great shape). Brand new/zero mile set of Pilot Powers included.

If you saw my posts in the pub, I've accepted a new job and will be moving in a hurry. Not going to have time for this project anymore. Any reasonable offer will be accepted, must be picked up in Huntsville by February 1st.

What are you looking to get for it and what kind of work needs to be done? Pics?

Well, as far as work goes as I said really you just need to decide how you're going to cover the frame/swingarm etc be it paint or powder coat. Frame does need a little more work getting down to bare frame/prep for paint. The engine is good to go, forks need re-assembled. If I kept it I was going to re-spring it prior to re-assembly. When I say it's a bare frame, it's a bare frame. Wiring harness and everything is in a box, carbs have been cleaned and preped.

If I kept it I would powder coat it, spring the forks, assemble it and buy an Ebay/Hong Kong bodywork and take it to the track.

You could likely get a title on it, but I'm not guarentee-ing that. It's a case of one brother selling a bike to his brother then deciding not to sell it and putting white out in the signature blocks. (I mean brother literally). Just wont fly with any DMV. The brother that's the owner is in Iraq, so he cant just pop down to the local DMV to order a replacement. He's due back like April.

As for price, make me a reasonable offer. I've got $1200ish in it but dont expect to get that.

I can take some cell phone bikes and post - looks like a bare frame and dismounted engine. :)

I used to race a 98 F3 awesome bike and im deploying myself in may. as far as titling you can always get him to sign a specific power of attorney with the DMV (just a form most states u can dl from their site) and then you can get new title or re title... anyways im def interested I know F3's like the back of my hand so re assembly is no issue just more so trying to think of what all would need to be bought to put it on the track. Also shipping would be a pita.... thats an added cost.
