lexxus Posted June 20, 2009 Share Posted June 20, 2009 My buddy's 01 was stolen a month ago.We recovered it today. Ahold's ripped out the ignition. Had to be kids,the layed it down on the right side,spray painted the tank and front fender.the clutch and brake levers were gone. HUH. cowl cracked. mirrors scraped up. Now the good news, As in good old honda reliability, stuck a screw driver in what was left of the ignition turned it, the dash lit. hit the on button she fired right up and purrr light the bird she is. Whew. MY buddy had the bike two weeks before it was stolen. rode it a week. 4900 miles recovered 5500 miles they ripped up the tank and mototek lock. tail okay. So now he's waiting for estimates on parts, So if anyone here have 01 glory red parts they need to let go. Oh yeah will the ignition from 99 and up work on the 01? I would have zero confidence in a bike that was abused like hell for 1000 miles and ditched. Could be cracks in the frame, bad chain, ect... let the insurance buy it back. They stole it 5-22 but barely rode it. Yep' he's keeping it, they didnt ride it much. the odometer showed very little use. it had 4900+ when he brought it. he put about 400 it has 5,500 on it now and was recovered and sitting at the inpound lot for a week at lease before they called him. they didn't know what they had and were kids i bet. all n all the bikes not in bad shape. very easy rebuild.
