NoOne65
I would like to throw out a hypothesis(Right word?) on how the carbs work on our bike and have some of you in the know tell me if I am correct: First is the main jet which is power in the upper band...basically FULL fuel flow from the bowls to the intake manifold correct? Second is the needle which controls fuel flow in the low to midrange by restricting the fuel flow THROUGH the main jet correct? Third is the pilot/mixture screw which controls idle and the transition from idle to midrange. Pilot screw basically bypasses the needle/mail jet for idle speeds? This is the way I think of it in my head. Am I correct? J
cbrxxquad
Well they overlap in fuel flow. I have a chart somewhere, Throttle opening 0 to 1/4= pilot the needle adjust the flow of fuel from the main linearly according to the taper 1/4 to 3/4 main is 3/5 to full open, but that is also including the flow of the pilot, which does not stop. The increase in vacuum changes the amount of flow of fuel too, determined by the venturi and flow of air. Sudco has the info for what and where...http://www.sudco.com/manual.html
