chasg
l have a problem with my front brakes. The free play in the master cyclinder lever is continually changing when riding. Some times the lever has the correct free play then there is very little free play. I have replaced the complete front brake assembly( master cyclinder, brake calipers, brake pads and lines of another bird) to identify the problem without success. I have filled the brake fluid level to just above the minimum level to prevent any pressure buildup in the master cyclinder. The brakes have been vacuum bled. Also the front brake make a buzzing noise when applied. This l believe is caused by air being trapped between the pads and the disks. Any ideas? The only parts l have not swapped over is the front wheel and discs.
JohnS
I suspect that you have a disc with some run out. This will push the pads back over time giving the impression of lever free travel. If this is the case the further you ride between brake applications the worse it will be. It also fits the brake noise. It is quite difficult to check for this on a floating disc, if you don't know how it may be best to leave it to an expert. JohnS
