I'm anxious to try this out. I wired up my radar detector today and mounted the MixIt that I got from Carlo. The Mio GPS was already pretty cool since it has a built in MP3 player that mutes when it needs to give you a direction. Now with the MixIt I can pipe the radar detector thru my ER6I's so I will actually realize its going off.

I also finally quit procrastinating and installed a relay so everything works off the key.

This was sort of a half-assed attempt to clean up my mess of wires that were running amok under the seat. I picked up a project box as radio shack and basically stuffed my power strip in it. I made a hard connected power cord for the radar detector from a phone cord. I read about it on teh interwebs and had to try it. It actually works with a standard phone cord. I wanted to fuse it with a 2a fuse and the fuse wouldn't fit in the box so thats why both ends of the fuse go into the box.

Now I just need to install the cruise control.

I tried to use a standard phone cord to make my Escort a new hard wire kit..

kept getting a low volt signal..

I bought a set off ebay .. one with a mute for the car and one straight hard wire for the bird..

Hmm.. wonder why my phone cord didn't work..??

Just fyi I have a nasty ground loop with this set up as is. From what I have read the issue is fixed with the Mix-It 2 which also has a priority circuit which will allow whatever is plugged in there...your radar detector for example...to mute everything else when it goes off. They sell a cord specifically for the original Mix-It to use with an Escort/Passport that eliminates the ground loop. For the time being I just unplugged my gps from bike power and ran it off its battery. It works for short trips.
