JuXXtin
Cruuuuuuisee control! Does that mean I'm getting old?? Here's a couple key locations that I used to install the Audiovox CCS-100 cruise control. Took her out for a test run and wow... this system is very smooth! Glad to have it in for future long distance slabbing. Throttle Connection: Beaded Chain Location: Cable Mount: Servo Unit:
Hobicus
Nice Justin. You will REALLY like having it. I was amazed how many of us had CC when I went out west. It doesn't replace a throttle lock for a quick "I need to adjust my glove" usage... but it's awesome when slabbing. I mounted mine in a very similar way. Did you use one of the water line bolts to hold the cable mount? I cut their bracket to fit so that I could get it in a direct line. I think I drilled and tapped into the other side of the throttle, though. I also didn't actually use the beaded chain, the cable connects directly to the throttle via their provided connector. FYI: Your servo unit pick isn't coming through. Mines in the tail section all the way by the tail light.
JuXXtin
Did you use one of the water line bolts to hold the cable mount? I cut their bracket to fit so that I could get it in a direct line. The third pic shows the water line bolt I used through the provided bracket. I didn't cut the bracket, but bent it twice so that it would stand up and out a little bit to make the straight line to the throttle without interfering on the bolt head. I fixed the last picture I think, the servo is mounted in front of the shock, under the gas tank. I wanted to avoid taking away from underseat storage. redxxrdr
Justin, Just got a e:mail that Amazon has them for $85.00. Since I have company awards moneys for Amazon, I guess I will pull the trigger. Do you have any other pictures of your throttle installation? I know it will make more sense once I open mine up, but a clear shot from farther back will help. Also, how waterproof does the control unit seem to be? Those GA and NC roads do get wet. Thanks, Craig
bartonmd
Wait... are you connecting to the throttle from the TOP side?? If so, remove it NOW! That's how the guy who ended up with it catching his throttle and holding it WOT, had his mounted... Always mount stuff like that from the bottom of the throttle, so when it's not engaged, but you're in the gas, it hangs down into the air, not hangs down onto the parts of the throttle linkage that it can catch on. Can't really speak on the water resistance [yet!?!]. The servo cable then points back around the battery/under seat and curves back around the left side of the tank and slopes down before turning up to mount on the installed bracket show in the pictures. Then it's pointing directly at the throttle linkage, If you decide to do it Craig and happen to be making a trip up this way, would be happy to help you install here. I know it would go so much faster and easier with two knuckleheads at work on it. Wait... are you connecting to the throttle from the TOP side?? Thks for your concern Mike! I saw how he had connected in his photos and read about that WOT a while back. Can also easily see how that could happen while I was picking a location for this so I was sure to pick a route where WOT was no problem on binding. So I did route under that throttle bar when it could get hung up. You can see that bar in the first photo atop on the left for others who are wondering what we're talking about. I know it would go so much faster and easier with two knuckleheads at work on it. Just ordered mine, slow boat shipping from Amazon to keep it below $85.00. I may just take you up on that in a few weeks. I was off last week with the kids, but work still got me pissed and I rode from my house to the mountains for some twistys and back home in the same day. Feeling better now. But work will SUCK for the next two weeks. I'll post up if I have any problems, Thanks.
