gt_mule
I was cleaning my chain today and noticed a broken o-ring. Just hit 8k miles TODAY. I have been using the motorex cleaner and lube every 200 miles religiously. It's the factory DID chain on a 2005 import '03. I do not use any brushes to clean it, just rags. Is is time for a new chain already?
jon haney
Keep the chain lubed. Don't ride in the rain too much and check that pin(the one with the broken O-ring) for tightness. As long as that pin stays loose you can keep using the chain. If you start seeing more broken O-rings, replace the chain and find a different cleaner. gt_mule
Thanks for the reply. I'll mark that pin and watch it.
cbrzxxx
Thanks for the reply. I'll mark that pin and watch it. You could just replace that link too. With new o rings. I love my RK chain tool. I can do anything with it.
Fast Eddy
Thanks for the reply. I'll mark that pin and watch it. You could just replace that link too. With new o rings. I love my RK chain tool. I can do anything with it. As I read this I thought the same thing. If you have a chain tool, just get a new master link with new o-rings and replace. I'm still thinking in the old days of clip-style master-links where one is more than enough to worry about.
runner
Just keep it lubed and keep an eye on the chain. It shouldn't be an issue w/proper maintenance.
