900RR shock spring

I bought a 900RR shock from a member last fall, planning on installing it tomorrow. Anyone have any experience with the stock spring? Will it be sufficient for a 190 # rider ? I ride solo 99% of the time. Thanks in advance.

I don't recall the exact rate, but it will be way too soft. That was a popular mod for awhile, most were going with the heaviest spring they could find to fit, which I believe was a 16kg/mm- still too soft unless you're on the lighter side (for an XX rider).

REAR SHOCK SPRING

Recommended Rear Shock Spring Rate for Street: 15.75 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Shock Spring Rate: 14.6 kg/mm (stock)

FRONT FORK SPRINGS

Recommended Fork Spring Rate for Street: 0.857 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Fork Spring Rate: .820 kg/mm (stock)

CBR1100XX

Rider Weight: 190 lbs.

REAR SHOCK SPRING

Recommended Rear Shock Spring Rate for Street: 17.25 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Shock Spring Rate: 16.8 kg/mm (stock)

FRONT FORK SPRINGS

Recommended Fork Spring Rate for Street: 0.991 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Fork Spring Rate: .890 kg/mm (stock)

I have a 95 CBR 900RR shock on my 98 XX with an Eibach 1100lb (19.3 kg/mm) spring and with my sags set for my 300lb weight I am on the second lightest notch of preload and it feel quite good but put the missus on the back (~180lb) and I do notice the difference :icon_surprised:

Thanks,

I haven't compared the shocks side by side, is it possible to put the stock XX spring on the 900 shock?
