G-Man
Will aftermarket slip-ons from a carburated Bird work on a fuel injected Bird without remapping the FI ?
jblackbird2000
Yup, should be no problem at all. There's tons of guys on her that have simply put on aftermarket slipons without doing any re-mapping or getting a PC II or III.
PlasticxxHead
Follow up question.. Is there a limit to the amount of back pressure you can drop on the Fi birds.. I have a wacky idea to put some tiny "almost straight "pipes on her to test them out..slash mess around// Will these work if I put on enough of them? How flexible is the Fi at sensing exhaust outflow needs??Not an expert... My Carbed bird needed tweeking when going from the erion race cans to Rc51 Mircons.. Brett helped my synch the carbs once I settled on the cans.. I am waiting for delivery on my first Fi bird, and have two sets of cans ready for the testing.. Yes there is a limit, with the stock ecu & map...... pipes that have a straight through design usually require re-mapping for opitmum efficiency, if you put a PCII/III on there it is pretty much limit-less (in your case). The FI dosent really sense exhaust flow (unless you have a CO2 sensor) rather it senses the air intake........... thinning air (altitude) = less fuel........ heavy air (sea level) =more fuel..........cooler air (dense) = more fuel......... Hot air ( less dense) = less fuel ???????????????????????????? Without the proper map you will notice dead spot's on the tach.
