redwingedblackbird
Hi all, -2001 XX - previous owner seems to have adjusted the rear brake lever too low for my liking. the lever annoys me with the front of my foot in casual riding position, and I'm looking to lift up the pedal a bit I read through the PDF manual (thank you for posting it), and it says on page 3-29 "loosen the locknut and turn the push rod until the correct pedal height is obtained" Well, I grabbed an open end wrench and tried to loosen the locknut without torquing on it too much and the nut doesn't budge at all. By looking at the threads of the bolt that sticks down, it appears that the threads are "lefty loosey" like most other things. I gave it a few strong good tries but it wouldn't turn. Saw that the brake pedal body wanted to flex if I really put a lot of muscle into it, so I thought I'd ask here before I fucked something up. Is there some sorta trick to this "simple" adjustment ? Thanks
01xxallen
Seems like when I lowered my pedal, I took the tiny cotter out of the back of the clevis, then removed the pin and rotated the clevis until I liked it and put everything back. This is easier if you remove the bolts holding the M/C firmly to the bike. (it gives you a little wiggle room to get clevis off the brake pedal). Keep in mind if you raise the pedal, you'll also have to raise the brake switch. I found the easiest thing was to take the spring off the pedal, slide the whole switch up in its holder and turn the plastic adjusting ring, then replace everything.
