Fast Eddy
I was in at the local stealer waiting for some parts. We (one of the parts kids) started talking suspension. He thought I should look into a Ducati rear shock, he thought it was same fitment as the XX. Could this be? Ducati's come with good Ohlins stuff, right? So maybe check the Duc forum for someone parting out a 998. On a side note, I contacted a local suspension guru and he said he could revalve my forks for $160 in labor and $50 in parts. bartonmd
I don't know about the shock thing, but if it does work, it will at the very least, need to be rebuild and add a stronger spring to it, and by that time, you might as well have purchased the Ohlins for the 'bird... On the fork valving... If the guy knows what he's doing, it will definately be better than stock, but maybe not quite as good as a purpose made valve. I meant to trade bikes with Joe at SeXXt to try his home-brew valves out, but didn't get the chance... Basically, he's just drilling out the holes in the stock valves and doing the shims like Dan Kyle or whoever does that is doing... I thought about doing that, and for the price difference and time, I would think about it on a second bike, just to dick with it and see what I could come up with... Worse case, you're out $210 and still have to do the Gold Valves, or whatever, because any parts he would fuck up by doing it using stock components would be replaced with the gold valves. Fast Eddy
I thought I heard he is a showa engineer working with Harley and has a side biz www.tracksideengineering. I don't know if the prices he gave include him removing the fork legs or if that on me. He did say the valves he uses are from a GSXR.
