turbo50jeff
Which shock would you recommend for 2up riding? the Penske or Ohlins with the remote preload adjustment?
Skull
Lena Olin beats Roger Penske every time.
XXTi
I have Penske 8981 and I really like it. I've never used an Ohlins. Take a look at the other Ohlins thread to see the opinion of a man who has used both.
Keith
I just put a Penske 8981 on mine and really, really, like the difference it made in the ride, when combined with the complete fork rebuild from the group buy on the "other" forum. With the two upgrades complete, the bike handles like a completely different machine, i.e. handles like it should have had Honda put any effort into the suspension in the first place... However, I've never had an Ohlins, so can't make a comparison.
BDAZ XX
I've had both and prefur the Ohlins. Mainly due to the fact that it has more techniqual support in the circles I run with racing on the west coast. Nothing wrong with the penske at all, I ran that 8981 on my XX for years. Penske does NOT offer remote preload does it? Where would the best place to purchase a Penske?
BDAZ XX
No remote preload. I would check with Jim Lindemann in the San Jose/bay area for a shock. He is one of the best when it comes to working on Penske shocks and suspension in general. Do a google on his name, he's easy to find. Canadian Bird
Can't speak for Ohlins but I just installed a Penske remote with a fork rebuild and the Bird now handles like Honda should have created it. I bought mine from Triple Digits built to my weight. I'm pleased. For my riding style and two-up riding it's excellent.
