Please help out the MORON

Can someone take a pic and show me how to adjust rear preload??

Also what can we adjust on the rear of the Bird...only preload or damping as well? I have the manual but still can't figure it out.

So if anyone can snap a pic or give an idiot like me some clear instructions, I would be grateful. I may have a passenger on the back this weekend and wanna check the settings.

Thanks.

It's a lot easier with the Special Spanner Wrench

Look at the shock and you'll see 2 notched rings. The outboard one is a lock ring. Break it loose and crank the other one in order to compress the spring. When done tighten up the lock ring again.

Very funny. Does this really exist or was it a Photoshop job?

Yep, They exist. I saw one in a gun shop many moons ago. The guy said he shot a 25 lb. Jackelope with it :icon_shifty:

Ok....I'm still confused....will have to check it out. I thought there was an area on the Bird where you turned some screws to adjust the preload?

I've never adjusted anything. Is the stock set up ok for riding 2 up?

The Screw on the Shock if for Dampening (Rebound I think, no Compression). Since you've never messed with it before I'd suggest leaving that alone and just cranking in some more Preload. Unless you've got a real Heffer on the back or you plan on scaring her you'll probably be OK to just put her on it and going for it. Just take it easy.

And where do I add more preload?

I answered that (not in a lot of detail) in my first post.

Thanks Brett...I just pissed my pants

I missed that post.

What a Jackass. I know for a fact that the World Record Jackelope weighed in at just over 20 lbs and was taken with a rifle in Wyoming.

Go spread your bullshit somewhere else Brett. :icon_naughty:

This one came out of North Jersey and was bred with Chuck Norris for size, but unfortunatly the strength and fighting abilities were lost. Due to the fact it was shot with the wrong type of gun to qualify for the record books it was never recorded.

I still call Bullshit. I've never even heard of one east of the Mississippi let alone one that big. Everything is bigger out West.

Short of adjusting your suspension for you what else can I do?

reach around? I'm just gonna leave it as is. As far as I know the bike has never been adjusted in the rear....I got it w/1600 mi from JoelMikel who never messed with it.

The woman who's riding on the back tonight told me she's 160 (group ride thing..some don't ride their own bikes)..I'm about 210 w/gear...put the tires to 40F 41R...should be ok.
