Frame sliders vs. "shrooms"

I'm a wee bit confused.

After seeing others go down, I see the value of frame sliders, but the ones recommended on Jaws are "shrooms" (stubs vs. the traditional longer ones).

I'm not sure which is best for the 'Bird.

The point of the sliders (based on what I've seen) is to (1) protect the plastics and (2) prevent hard points (like engine covers) from being damaged so that the motor leaks oil after a lowside.

Are the shrooms just as effective or what is right for the 'Bird or should you install traditional sliders elsewhere?

The shrooms are good for tipovers and you don't have to cut the fairing. They won't help in a crash.

Sliders are designed for a get off but you'll need to cut the fairing to fit them.

I am interested in this as well I have been thinking about getting a pair. Here are the ones currently listed on ebay. Do you have any votes on what would most likely be the best? I guess I dont see a whole lot of difference, but at the same time any of these are cheaper then replacing a faring. So I wouldnt mind spending the money if they are worth it.

I've got these on my bike..

Your A and B are Shrooms not sliders, at least as far as I know.

No this is just my opinion so take it as you will.

Shrooms just replace a bolt that holds your fairing on, should protect your fairing it the bike is tipped over. But as soon as your bike slides it will then break the plastic and fold over. Fair bolts up positions aren't very strong.

Frame sliders are thicker, longer and generally alot stronger, they replace one bolt on the engine. Normally they lower on the fairing. These will help to protect your body work the bike does hit the ground while moving. I've been told to stay away from metal ones as at a decent speed they tend to dig into the pavement and your bike will hook in and start flipping. Needless to say last thing you want is your bike flipping as big damage is caused then.

Hence while I ended up with plastic sliders... I was considering putting on a set of shrooms too but I don't know if they will help with the sliders already there..
